its time kumbles hanged his boots..

AK is no more the lethal bowler once he was. he was once predictable with his acurate yet no spin bowling. later he changed to googly and this weapon is also known to the batsmen now. a spiner is one hoo knows how to bowl 6 different balls in an over and AK lags in this. its time we groom piyush immediately, since hes already making waves elsewhere wasting time....

Emperor Ashoka
Reflections of ordinary cricket fans
by Emperor Ashoka on Aug 09, 2007 04:53 PM

"No politics at all please" is the refrain you should have when you read on.

I do not want to join issues with those who have written for and against the Indian team and the fab four. I would however, as customary on the eve of or just at the beginning of any test, wish all the best to the Team and the players. No worries for me about personal landmarks of players. The seniors, like Sachin, Sourav and Laxman disappointed the fans with their thoughtless and selfish performances once they settled down and scored runs. I only wish they do not repeat such silly things.

But what is more important, especially when you talk about a possible series win in England after 1986 (21 long years!) is that the author of that historic series win, our very own legendary Kapil Dev, is in the limelight now thanks to BCCI's imprudence.

Who has mandated BCCI to be the exclusive guardian of cricket in India? Is it by a statute of Parliament? Is it by popular voting by cricket fans across the country? Why this heady approach? Why can't BCCI work hand in hand with not just ICL but other corporates and business houses interested, to promote the game in a much bigger way than at present, leaving personalities behind?

We have a lot of paper tigers. They can go to a score of 185 for 6 from 179 for one.

FAB 4
by Anish Roychowdhury on Aug 09, 2007 02:43 PM

My Tribute to Tendulkar, Ganguly ,Dravid and Laxman and the real fighter Kumble.
They entertained millions of fans, were responsible for end less debates in the tea houses ,broken hearts of so many maidens on the field and off the field. After Gavaskar,Amarnath, Biswanth and Kapildev era
We really did not produce players like these
five. If any three of them clicked togeter In dia seemed unbeatable. Ther will be a huge vacuum when they retire.
