HI TO ALL ... see dont think that great players will only work as coach and do wonders.... 1.MANY GREAT TEAMS HAVE ORDINARY COACHES WHE N THEY WERE APPOITED ..LIKE AUSTRALIA , SRILANKA , SOUTH AFRICA. ETC.. 2. It s the players who have take the tips correctly ... 3.Lets give a chance to prasad. 4. see i am not a fan of prasad ... in a situation like this he can be handy ... 5. ND LASTLY ONE TING DONT ENCOURAGE DIRTY POLITICS IN BCCI ..... IT SHOULD CHANGE ITS STRATEGY........

But Venkyji was extraordinary. He bowled extraordinarily slowly. He gave extraordinarily a lot more runs per over.He was a extraordinary rabbit with the bat.Kishore Sai Bhaiji,by your logic , he is going to be a extraordinary failure.Sigh!

Akram - akramam (means naughty in tamil)
Follow our great leader Indraji's proverb BE INDIAN BUY INDIAN (Cong.man Pawar bought Chappel for his legs - result humilations only)
Being an Indian, Majority of our fans would not accept this akramam rather we face humilations.
Why not Indian - you think we dont have potential bowling coaches, shame. I am not supporting Dravid or Venky - We have handsfull of bowling coaches - Manoj, TA Sekar, Kapil, Madan lal, Roger, Srinath, Amarnath, Jadeja, Robin and so on.

venky like dravid is professional crickter and they believe in perofrmance on field looser like ganguly will play dadagiri, back stage politics are planning to backstab true players and make sure ind will loose team should get rid of ganguly and his gang

I entirely agree with you Naalayak Chhokra. With due respect to him, I think Venkatesh Prasad is a totally wrong choice.

totaly agree noone is Better then AKRAM to be indian bowling coach. Dravid doesnt have balls to get akram.

by Krunal Thacker on Apr 19, 2007 08:01 AM
i dont think BCCI would ever get Akram to be the bowling coach of india. Remember wat happened when akram gave bowling tips to Irfan Pathan. The political parties make a big hue & cry of a pakistani helping out an indian. Do you think the Hindu Brigade ( the so called rakshaks of Hindutva) will let this happen
RE:Akram will be the best coach
by Andy Louis on Apr 19, 2007 08:16 AM
Thacker..you are talking nonsense. How come Hindu brigade come in picture with Irfan and akram both being mulims? Akram was the best choice India should have opted for.

Venkatesh Prasad has been picked up by a JOKER (INDIA's worst capatain, Mr. Gum) as bowling coach and approaved by his mafia (non-cricketing) partners in BCCI.
Prasad will be become another big JOKER soon.
Other than Prasad, Mr. Gum (Fevicol) could not find any other bowler in INDIA/WORLD as a bowling coach. That's his another GREATNESS (!!!) of Captaincy......
Mr. Gum could not see his death scene before, in and after WC-07.
He needs more time to see his death scene.
It is high time to make Sachin Captain and Yubraj is his vice and wise choice for WC 2011. Then at least Team-India will breathe much better than under spineless CHEAP Dravid.

ganguly had advantage of leading side for more no matches while dravid is not leading side from last 20 montyhs dravid performed slefless and batted in all crucial matches against strong bowling attack but during this WC campaign ganguly and his gang betrayed dravid. without dravid ganguly success average lower than sachin even still winning average is only 1% diff and team won odis and tests under dravid captaincy without ganguly. ganguly took credit for victory for performance players like dravid, sachin, kumble laxman while dravid shared victory credit with his teammates. dravid accepted responsiblity for WC debacle which is b'cuz of dirty politics of sachin and ganguly both ganguly and sachin considered are better players than dravid and would have fought battle on wi ground instead of back stage politics 3 icc awards and icc ranking speaks for dravid's professionalism commitments
Dravid is better player and captain and ganguly is nowhere near him Even knowing after that 2 super stars are promiting groupism and both ex captian are breathing his nec in captaincy race with their strong back stage support still dravid accepted challenge of captaincy?? inway he is gambling with his odi career? one more defeat will he will be out of team and 2 ex captains will try their best that team loose game against bangladesh? who is better player? player who play backstage poltics or accept challenges even knowing that player might end up his career???
ganguly is spineless cheap selfish oppertunist politician
BKV used to bowl military medium pace. I wonder how he is going to coach the spinners? Hope he instills "pace" in our opening bowlers as they have ALL slowed down!
That Venky is not one of the highly accomplished bowlers in India. As a bowling coach, he may shine , who knows? There should certainly not be any hype about this. Let the guy prove himself.
Guys, goto www.cricketvotes.com and cast your votes.
Majority want Sachin and Ganguly retire from cricket. Most unwanted player is Ajit agarkar, followed by Harbhajan.
Votes on captaincy and coach are highly split.
www.cricketvotes.com/news.html gives you a upto date snapshot of world cricket. You can add any of these polls on your blog or web site instantly.
RE:I tend to agree..
by Andy Louis on Apr 19, 2007 08:19 AM
Hey ..Who care about your silly votes. Thats not an official site. You aer advertising your site here. Thats spam..do you know? Well Get over it now. Sachin and Ganguly are stayin' so come out of that mental shock of WC loss. Go and drink some beer and chill now. Don't wake up everyday shouting Sachin/Ganguly etc. Its high time get over it. Else people will label you mad.
Turns out that too many people seem to be spouting the usual inter-regional biased crap (no surprise) about V. Prasad's appointment. Venky was decent bowler with limited talents (and 196 wickets) to his name.
So, is he good to be a bowling coach ?
While I have NO IDEA whether he will work out or be of any use to our super-star bowlers-with-no-shortage-of-ego-or-attitude, here is what we know:
1. he has coached the U19 and India-A bowlers
2. he has taken the ECB certified classes for coaches (level 3, I think)
3. he has been the bowling coach at the NCA
Now, a thing to remember is that the most coveted bowling coach out there currently is Troy Cooley. he is the guy who coached the Poms to the 2005 Ashes victory and got poached by the Aussies just after that to be prepare for a year prior to the 2006 Ashes. We all saw what he did with their bowlers and England is still ruing their stupidity in letting him go over a contract issue.
When people try to use Venky's test/ODI record to figure out if he will make a good coach, it is worthwhile to consider that Troy Cooley NEVER PLAYED AN INTERNATIONAL GAME FOR AUSTRALIA. He was never considered good enough.
What makes him succeed spectacularly is his solid basics, sound thinking, progressive views and excellent communication skills.
That is what will be needed ....not a bloated stats cupboard from past playing days.
Given the bozos we could have potentially hired, at least Venky has SOME credentials from a coaching standpoint.
Let us see what he can do and not immediately jump into a bizarre region-based-mud slinging exercise.
When he fails, I hope we have the guts to boot him out. Just like we should with our players too...but that is another story, isn't it ?
RE:Venky's credentials ?
by Undertaker on Apr 19, 2007 12:17 AM
Venkatesh Prasad, among the recently retired bowlers has the best credentials after Javagal Srinath. But Srinath cannot pick up a coaching assignment as per the regulations of the ICC by which a match referee cannot be a coach. Thus, Venky is the best of the Indian lot. Otherwise take a cahnce and go for Wasim Akram. But Wasim Akram will charge a hefty price and that may not be to the board's liking. The BCCI has shown in the past to cut corners, as in the Jonty Rhodes case. Here was a guy with great credentials in fielding who we could have snapped up! But we haggled over money and lost out! Now look at the fielding standards!!

dravid is good captain he started winning 18 odis in chasing and but 2 superstars alwayes make sure team lost and dravid termed as not good captain. Dravid played under leadership of sachin, ganguly and gave 100 % commitment to team cuase and anchored many wins for team in tests and odis. His ICC ranking and awards speaks for his performance for team. He trusted the senior players and backfired by the same supers stars like ganguly, sachin, dhoni, harbajan, zahirkahn agarkar etc.. team ind early exit is b'cuz of some senior players lack of commitment, negative cricket and 2 ex cpatain's dirty politics in dressing room. Instead of supporting captain, both ex captain undermined his ability and when it comes to take blame for defeat never come forward SL captain is getting full support of his senior players and cricket None of senior player /ex captain m envied mahila%u2019s his promotion as captain From the outset they gave unstinting support. they remained hungry to perform and did not rely on reputation or popular support to protect their places. 2 ex captain in Ind team termed as better lalented and stroke makers in odis w fought battle on ground in WC rather than in dressing room. Both are now busy in being spotlight in media and self making image ..
I'am not promoting Venky or whatever but he always came across as a person who knew his limitations and always gave 100% on the field of play! No doubt he will bring the same rigor and hard work in his coaching stint! the key is whether our bowlers like Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar have the humility to learn from him and accept some of his ideas. Neways, he will surely be of help to VRV, RP Singh, Munaf and Sreesanth! Otherwise bring in Wasim Akram at a hefty price! I see no other alternative at this stage cos Srinath is an ICC match referee and cannot pick up an interim coaching assignment. All the best Venky!!
RE:Venkatesh Prasad is a sincere individual
by CricketLover on Apr 19, 2007 12:07 AM
Hopefully he will not let the current bowlers become like him in his playing days and start bowling at 125kph. I only hope that he will not ask the bowlers to reduce the speed and become 'line and length' bowlers.According to one of the interviews given by Venkatesh Prasad, a bowler who bowls 130kph is fast. They should be like Aus and to some extent SL. Even though Tait could be expensive, they never ask him to reduce speed, instead he is asked to bowl as quickly as he can (same with Lee). SL are also doing the same with Malinga- first 3-4 overs he is asked to just go and hit the deck as quickly as he can while bowlers at the other end keep it tight. He then comes back after 20 overs (when the ball is slightly old) and bowls reverse swinging yorkers at 145kph.
Venkatesh Prasad is a soft spoken man. Our Cricketers are thugs. They will not listen to him and instead they will Coach V Prasad as to how become a thug !
RE:Soft Man
by Sathish P on Apr 18, 2007 11:19 PM
I would say no matter who is the coach, seniors won't listen. It's all about younger players in the team, i think Venky is a good choice for bowling choice keeping that in mind.

until gangster ganguly and his dadagiri continues team ind will have bad days gagnuly can ditch anybody he make sure team will loose match he is promoting groupism in team he is spoiling dressing room and team spriti ganguly backstabbed fellow bangali dalmiya gangyly used dalmiyas infouence and support to continue as non performing captains he played petty politics under catpaincy of sachin to get the captaincy and baxkstabbed sachin dravid is pillar for ganguly\'s success as captain he backstabbed dalmiay hi is poisiong mind of bajji, dhoni, zahirkahn will destroy their career
I dont know statistics of players in cricket. One thing I do know is that Bowling and coaching are two different jobs. You dont have to be the best of all bowlers to do coaching. All you need is a strong character and a creative mind to help others. Even if VP was the best of all times, he still is not going to teach techniques to Indian bowlers at the international level that they already don't know. They need coaching in thinking and being creative to win a game. VP has proved in the past that he has innovative ways under his sleeve to get wickets. We cannot judge his character and his coaching skills at this time. Give him time before you you all jumo and yell and scream.
RE:VP...bowling & coaching

Vivek, I agree with you. Venky will help our bowlers on creative aspects. He will also be a team man and work with them to help them. I am very happy with this choice.
