Which Team Captain has worst captainship in WC2007 ? It's about Captainship not Batting and Bowling or fielding.

Hello, if you know cricket from long time, prasad is the first bowler got International cricket of the year since ICC start the ratings. You still need some cricketing knowledge and Srinath busy with ICC duties.

Venkatesh Prasad has a very Good record as a coach. He is considered among the top 3 coaches in india along with chandrakant pandit and paras mambrey.

Srinath is now a match referee on the ICC panel of referees. He cannot be made a coach.

The fact that you don't know this shows that you are one of those people who just watch cricket if sachin is blasting, and then will go ga..ga in praise. and if sachin goes duck, then he has to be removed.

You absolutely lack any knowledge of cricket. So, Shut UP!!

srinath may have been excluded bcoz of his duty as referee, however i dont think you need to be a great player to become successful coach, however you need to be a strong motivator and someone the players can really trust and come to with their problems whatever it is..knowing that coach will help them resolve. I dont know if prasad has that character. But we have some excellent examples in dave whatmore and late bob woolmer, both may not have been great players but they are/were excellent coaches/motivators..technical expects you can always solve by bringing in some expert player but mental expect has to be dealt by someone you can really trust..

Venkatesh Prasad has cleared three levels of Coaching Exams or some type similar to MRF for bowlers, He was the one who lead Indian Juniors to Finals of world cup, India A team had very good success under him, and no great players hve been good coach for example Kapil,Javid Mindad, and he has good number of test wickets and one day wickets and he has played almost all over the world in Australia, Southafrica westindies so he was the right choice if they were looking for indian coach

To everyone,

Suman Bhatt has been contributing to these coloums regularly. From the responses, it is obvious that you people too have been reading those articles/letters. If Suman Bhatt is a person without any job, except posting these articles, what about you people. YOu people, including me too are without any meaningful job, spending our time surfing these places. Am I correct? When you point a finger on others, just see where the other four fingers are pointing towards?

Nobody is angel. Everybody has their own conviction and groupism. If somebody likes Dravid and hates Ganguly, some others do just the opposite. Atleast Suman Bhat is not using abusive language. Many in these columns are using unprintable languages also. To my mind Bhatt is much better than those.

Babu

A little comparison
by Suresh Kumar on Apr 19, 2007 12:31 PM  | Hide replies

Since a lot of people here seem to be talking ill of Mr.Prasad, I thought we should compare the carer stats of a few other fast/fast medium/medium pace players who have played/playing for India.

Venkatesh Prasad
India (Ind)

Batting style Right-hand bat
Bowling type Right-arm medium-fast
Tests ODIs
Matches 33 161
Runs scored 203 221
Batting average 7.51 6.90
100s/50s -/- -/-
Top score 30* 19
Balls bowled 7041 8129
Wickets 96 196
Bowling average 35.00 32.30
5 wickets in innings 7 1
10 wickets in match 1 n/a
Best bowling 6/33 5/27
Catches/stumpings 6/- 37/-

Ajit Agarkar
India (Ind)
Batting style Right hand bat
Bowling type Right arm fast medium

Tests ODIs
Matches 26 183
Runs scored 571 1250
Batting average 16.79 15.06
100s/50s 1/- -/3
Top score 109* 95
Balls bowled 4857 9070
Wickets 58 276
Bowling average 47.32 27.55
5 wickets in innings 1 2
10 wickets in match - n/a
Best bowling 6/41 6/42
Catches/stumpings 6/- 49/-

Zaheer Khan
India (Ind)

Batting style Right hand bat
Bowling type Left arm fast medium
Tests ODIs
Matches 45 117
Runs scored 578 490
Batting average 12.56 13.61
100s/50s -/1 -/-
Top score 75 34*
Balls bowled 8662 5809
Wickets 134 172
Bowling average 35.76 27.53
5 wickets in innings 3 1
10 wickets in match - n/a
Best bowling 5/29 5/42
Catches/stumpings 11/- 26/-

If we notice all these bowlers seem tohave similar averages. So blaming only one bowler is not very fair. We should understand that we have never had any brillant fast bowler excepting perhaps kapil and Srinath...who were exceptions.

Also I notice a few posts saying that Mohinder shd perhaps be the bowling coach...so I thought we shiould look at his career bowling stats as well.

Mohinder Amarnath
India (Ind)

Batting style Right-handed batsman (RHB)
Bowling type Right-arm medium
Tests ODIs
Matches 69 85
Runs scored 4378 1924
Batting average 42.50 30.53
100s/50s 11/24 2/13
Top score 138 102
Overs bowled 612 455
Wickets 32 46
Bowling average 55.68 42.84
5 wickets in innings 0 0
10 wickets in match 0 n/a
Best bowling 4/63 3/12
Catches/stumpings 47c 23c

Looking at his stats....it is clear he was an excellent bat...but bowling was barely pedestrian.
