WHAT THE HELL?!
by Romi Khanna on Nov 27, 2006 03:51 PM

Once again, the Team proved to have no killer instinct, probably no instinct at all. Why cannot we keep the pressure ? And why do we crumble under pressure? Probably does not matter we Laxman or Ganguly..it is all the same. No pride, no shame- just robotic! It is time to watch other cricket matches, atleast they are more entertaining!!

Whipping boys?

Now drop Sehwag and Tendulkar and bring in Ganguly and Laxman,Ramesh Powar for Harbhajan, Ashish Nehra for Agarkar.Atleast the Durban match we were skittled out by pace, but this one was ours for the taking and we blew it.Making wholesale changes is never going to win you matches.Attitude counts a lot.See how the Aussies have come back roaring, for that matter even the Windies.

South Africa whip India again

Yes Indian team needs a complete overhaul and change of training, tactics and attitude. They have to go back to the basics and play the game for the love of it and the country not for the sponsors and themselves. If I were to make a suggestion immediately after the worldcup get rid of Greg, drop Sehwag, Sachin and strip Dravid of Captaincy, drop Irfan (look at his figures). Any new player coming in should be given at least 12 months guarateed placement and if they cant handle it dump them for good. There are so many others waiting in the wings. They should send youngsters both bowlers and batsment to SA and Oz for thorough training and experience. All their learning and training should be done at state level and not international level. Shane Warne made a valid comment : international players do not need coach, they need someone to talk to if things dont go right but mostly they should be able to look after themselves in any condition otherwise they are not fit to be called international players.

Best Way To Come Out from Downunder
by Mohit Ahuja on Nov 27, 2006 12:46 PM

Straightly call any 2 out of these 3 players from INDIA--> Vijay Dahiya,Laxman,Gautam Gambhir in place of Raina and Mongia.
INDIA has to play only with 1 specialist spinner.

Hi - Prem
by Kishore on Nov 27, 2006 12:43 PM

Your Prem towards so called talented youngsters suprised me. Mr. Raina had so many outings in the middle may be more than 15 time; not one time as you mentioned. We have not seen his potential as we have seen that in initial outings of AZAHARUDDIN/SOURAV/ VVS/RAHUL/Shewag.Greg is an absolute bias for RAINA, AGARKAR etc. who are consistently inconsistent and never been a match winner. Greg is having a pathological baisness against VVS, Sourav,Zahir etc. In the greed of captaincy, RAHUL has joined the Chorus with Greg.
If Sourav,VVS,Kumble,Zahir were shown the door for non performance and loss of temperament, why GREG, RAHUL, TENDULKAR, RAINA, etc. would not be shown the Door today after this total collapse of temperament, team collapse, lack of direction, lack of leadership and lack of the performance. We are worried that 95-99% of the voters are mentioning in the visual media clearly that MR.CHAPPEL is responsible for this performance of the team.First he had broken the backbone of our national team, then put one player against another to jeopardise the team spirit, satisfied Mr. More & company for their narrow goal.We strongly feel the restoration of our team of 2005 immediately.

Team India

Hello Prem,
That you are spending time to analyse our teams performsnce, should impress on players that we still care about them. But the way they are playing, and I DONT believe that Cricket is a game of uncertanties, but actually application of mind over matter (in this case 'mind'is the business of playing the game, and 'matter' is the amount they are earning through salary or sponsership).Maybe the 'matter' issuch that the 'mind' has taken a back seat. And Shewag.Even a "duck" has some value as a bird, but Shewags'
"duck" is a dead Dodo. And with EVERY passing day the players are becoming MORE insecure, no pun meant here !!! But Greg is getting what he deserves.Any more hats to pass around, Greg ? When Kaif was at his best, he was denied a berth in the team.VVS at his peak was cut-off, which I suppose is because he made mincmeat of Australian bowling, and Chappell wanted his National pride above the prowess of VVS.Lets keep Ganguly out of this currently.I am sure that Sponsors are going to do a re-think also. Then where will Indian cricket be ? Dravid is now in the hottest seat that can be conceived, and our sympathies are with him.Unfortunately we rely ONLY on our top few.

India's woes
by Priya Chakravarti on Nov 27, 2006 12:14 PM

Couple important immediate solutions. It seems India's string of bad performances seem to coincide with the sacking of Sourav Ganguly from the team altogether and the arrival of Greg Chappell.
Solutions
1. Reinstate Sourav Ganguly as captain, as he is the only person who can fire up an immature and underperforming team. His batting may be questinable and so too his fielding, but he sure as hell knows how to get a team to perform.
2. Get rid of Greg Chappell. He is a terrible influence as a coach. Get a coach that the team can work with in the same way as John Wright.
3. Get rid of Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag, Pathan, Harbajan Singh and others past their prime. It is awful to seem these days.
4. As a wealthy cricket board, the BCCI must start to invest in cricketing infrastucture, talent and professional standards in a more visible and serious way.
