Sachin - the LEGEND
by Madhukar on Jan 11, 2006 03:54 PM

I beleave that records are meant to be broken. But one thing everyone should keep in mind that Sachin is all time best & one can not keep Ponting, Headen & other players in the same boat of Sachin & Lara. Ponting is having lot of backup from his teammets hence he can take the chance & sometime you will succeed where as there is not as much support to Sachin hence he is playing safe. It will be injustice if somebody says Sachin is playing for records.
So I request to stop this comparison as no body in the world can beat Sachin's talancy.

Hmmmmmm Debatable Issue
by Jayaprakash on Jan 11, 2006 03:49 PM

Each and one cricketer will have to gone through this period where whatever he does will not save his reputation.

Sachin has been acting as the back bone of Indian Team for the last 16 years, nobody can deny that fact. He started with a team whose morale was so low and he did a wonderful job.

Ricky ponting is the most lucky fellow compared to Sachin and Lara as the aussies is leading one of the best team in the history of Australian Cricket.

We people are always expecting a century every time Sachin walk to the pitch. Ricky Ponting had his own bad times if you remember it was mostly against India.

Sachin will play for some more time but you can\'t expect anything like his initial state from him because it is we who made him this much vulnerable by playing him without giving rest to him all the time.

Indian team without Sachin fears \"something\" if he is in the team the team morale would be very high, even all the persons except Sachin might perform to save a match for India.

Since this is a transition period Indian team has to sort out this problem soon. But we have to give Sachin the respect for playing International Cricket for around 16 years.

He will prove

Sachin the greatest?
by Debashis on Jan 11, 2006 03:47 PM

I think Sachin gets more hype because of his association with ESPN Star Sports. It is true that Sachin remains the one of the best batsmen that India has produced, but do we need to forget Dravid or Gavaskar? Lara is a better batsman any day. And the way Ponting is batting, he will surpass Sachin soon. Sachin's super record also comes from the fact that he started pretty young. However, age is catching up with him fast and to be honest, that dare devilry is sorely missing in his game. He should revert to the way he used to be and raise his game by a few notches. Having said all this, we must remember that this man has given India some of its greatest moments in cricket.

Sachin WAS, IS & WILL BE THE BEST
by rishi on Jan 11, 2006 03:19 PM

Why are people so impatient when it comes to Sachin, don tforget as chappel has rightly said that when he comes down to play, he has so much pressure on him, with so much expectations on him to fire in ever encounter. Had he been playing for some other country, then case would have been very different than it is right now. Please give him a break. He is the best cricketer in world cricket. He was, is and will retire as the best player ever to play cricket.

sachin is best
by ravi on Jan 11, 2006 11:10 AM

sachin is a legend and it is already evident from sir don bradman's words. ponting is just having a purple patch and is expected to break that 35 centuries sometimw soon. but he cant eclipse sachin as he will score centuries in quick session nowonwards as he is fresh from injury. so I would say he cant keep the 35 century record for a longtime as gavaskar has the chance to keep his record intact for quite sometime. only lara is competetive to sachin and that too at test criket level. sachin has more years to go and realistically speaking he is going to score about 100 centuries together in both forms of game.

Sachin's Record
by Nitin on Jan 11, 2006 10:44 AM

Everyone just talks about the next sensation ( Ricky Pointing for now) There were the waugh brothers, saeed anwar and many more. But Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is still here.
Everybody has their best 4-5 years in whatever they do. Pointing has that now. But to be Sachin you have to have 15 good years and probably 4-5 immortal years. He may be down but even like a sleeping lion he is the King. When he wakes up and he will once he gets settled down in couple of series he will show why he is rated next to Don.
Till then chill and enjoy the circus till the lion comes and blows you away

ENJOY!

Sachin Tendulkar
by Sripathi on Jan 11, 2006 10:34 AM

People get carried away with current events so much that they sometimes fail to look at the details. Ponting may break Sachin's record, provided he continues to play all his games in Australia. Here's the statistics for Ponting and Sachin, both career and playing away. Career maybe comparable, remember Sachin scored 29 hundreds before his 100th test. However, Ponting pales in comparison to Sachin while playing away from home. I rest my case.

Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50

Ponting Career 100 8253 257 57.71 28 32
Sachin Career 126 10323 248* 56.71 35 41

Ponting Away Record 40 3004 206 49.24 10 10
Sachin Away Record 69 5489 248* 56.58 19 22

Sachin is the best. No two ways about it!
by Himangshu on Jan 11, 2006 09:46 AM

The record for the most number of centuries as well as that of the most number of runs will be Sachin's by the time he hangs up his boots (boy! how I hate to think of that day). Moreover, its not just about the records, its about the class of the man. Keep in mind, While Ricky Ponting has been in a team that has been world champions for most of the last decade, Sachin had been carrying the hopes of a nation on his shoulders for most of the same last decade. To perform with such consistency under such pressure is no joke. I really pity the shortsightedness of the people who jump the guns to write this great person off at each of his failures. But then, the average ones are known by thier success, the great ones are always more talked about for thier failures. So its understandable, Sachin critics! But try to give the man his due!He has entertained us much more than anyone else ever has!
