Criket team

I entirely agree with Greg Chappell. he is talking the right thing and he should be supported. there should be no consideration of an individual in the team except for his current performance and fitness.

It's the time for Ganguly to leave form Indian Cricket team. He can't take any thing granted like captaincy. He lost is cool after scoring a hundred against a weak team. What the hell BCCI is doing. They should take some stringet actions against the poor performing players.

I feel it is a shame that BCCI is tolerating Ganguly for such a long time.As aptly said by one of the writers,it is indeed an embarassment for Indian cricket that a non-performing captain (batsman, bowler, fielder) is allowed to stick around for so long.It was well known even before the entry of Chappell that Ganguly is a poor fitness cricketer.John Wright may have let him go because of his aura and influence but that does not mean that Chappell will give him the same treatment.Chappell is absolutely right when he says that equal treatment should be meted out to all players and Ganguly is no god.It was childish and absurd when Ganguly tried to prove his point after scoring a ton against a mediocre attack on a mediocre wicket.
Stop resting on past laurels Mr .Saurav;and stop hoping for yourself that those silky smooth strokes and super high sixes are going to be witnesses again.
Step out gracefully rather than hopelessly clinging to your captaincy.

by nayeem on Sep 19, 2005 01:01 AM

chappel wants indian players to be strong and the week playerrs should be given fare-well and i thing its good advise by him for ganguly to quit the game. As every one knows ganguly had occupied the place and should be filled by a young blood.
getting century against zim is not a great deal.

Ganguly must quit
by Rk on Sep 18, 2005 11:24 PM

Well, i believe everyone against Ganguly is right and he is wrong. There is no doubt that he has been one of the most succesful captains but the truth is everyone has a day out as said. you cannot retain power for life. when India is looking for a good coach who can bring fame to the country, how can we expect him to do anything without giving him a free hand? if he is not given a free hand, then y bring someone called coach?

and players with their comfort zones are ridiculous in the present day. i think we should make the team a contract one. you play well, you be there in the team. else quit !!! you cannot politicize everything and spoil the show which a great majority of India enjoys.

Please say no to politics and yes to talent atleast in a sport.

chappel-ganguly rift

An Australian coach, that too Greg, is the best thing that could have happened to Indian cricket. Only he can inculcate the mental toughness and shrewdness that is required to win matches. Inidan team was very comfortable with the laid back approach of Wright and is finding it difficult to cope with the demands of modern cricket as set out by Chappel.Let typical Indian politics not force him resign in disgust. Only Indian cricket will be the loser.

Ganguly - Chappell face-off
by R. N. Bose on Sep 18, 2005 09:21 PM

The empire is going to strike back for sure. What can one Chappell do against the whole Indian cricket establishment? After all, he has been contracted to do a job. If he is not allowed to do that job, he would have no alternative left but to give up and go back. He won't be the loser, Indian cricket and the Indian public would be, as they always have been. We are like that only!

Indian Sports are run by crooks

There is lot of support from Ganguly's blind supporters, as seen by the feedback on many sites. In fact, there are some news papers like TOI, which gain from Ganguly and publish articles which push Ganguly's case for captaincy. I doubt if there would have been this much support for Ganguly, if the coach was also an Indian, especially if he was either Gavaskar or Kapil Dev who did lot more for Indian Cricket than Mr. Ganguly. Well, Ganguly might have become a great captain by his supporting of some good players like Harbhajan Singh and Dravid. But how long we can carry on this burden called Ganguly, for just that one quality. I don't think his captaincy deserves any more credit other than his backing of some good players. Lot of people say Ganguly is an agressive captain. Where is the agrression? In his words? In keeping Steve Waugh waiting for the toss? Agresssion should be on the field, attacking the batsman with the right bowler, with attacking field settings and so on. Did Ganguly display any of the agression on field? He goes thoughtless, once the opposition attacks Indian bowlers (example is world cup final) and start chewing his nails.I think we should move now on without him

Disgusting..
by Dr. S.S. Bakshi on Sep 18, 2005 08:55 PM

The way Saurav and Dalmiya are holding Indian cricket to ransom is shameful. Greg Chappel should call their bluff and come out frankly, telling what Ganguly and his band are upto and tell that he can only coach a bunch of comitted people willing to die for their country not lazy louts who prefer opening restaurants to playing for their country. Let them be told that India does not need their services anymore.
