Chappell's Behaviour
by Arup on Nov 28, 2005 11:17 AM

This man should be thrown out of Indian Cricket after the Mumbai ODI with first available flight to Australia, irrespective of the results of the match.
GO BACK CHAPPELL.

Boo to Chappel
by Vivek Raj on Nov 28, 2005 11:12 AM  | Hide replies

Mr. Chappel, please listen very carefully. We Indians are not so fool to believe that what you did that evening in Kolkata was due to a muscle tweak which you were adjusting while climbing up the bus. It was an indisputably an obscene gesture which was caught live on camera. Please understand that you are a disgrace on the Indian team which doesnt even have the guts to accept your own wrong doing and apologize. We understand that some times the pressures are high and people loose control. What was expected that you apologize to the people of Kolkata and said a simple sorry. But you are spine less fellow, who shamelessly took shelter under another shameless fellow called Wing Commander Mr. Baladitya, who like you is a blatant liar. Who made him the spokesperson of Indian Cricket Team? Our team is a constant looser and marred with controversies like match fixings. Such morally downtrodden team needs a morally upright person to pull them out of ditch. If you are equally in the ditch only God can help Team India. Go back to Australia and try showing your muscular jugglery to one of the kangaroos. May be it will teach you a nice lesson.

Ashamed of Calcutta... No cricket in Calcutta Please...
by Srikanth on Nov 28, 2005 08:14 PM
Well... i am so heart broken by the booing and jeering of INDIAN cricket team in Kolkotta.
I have personally witnessed 3 matches, as a child, in that great stadium and have great memories of it... well now that seems like a distant dream. I was shocked at the way they responded at the World Cup semi-finals against SriLanka i.e., after INDIA performed so splendidly in the QuarterFinals against Pakistan in B'lore, when my friends suggested that INDIA shud stop playin at Calcutta then i protested vehmently, sayin u shud not punish Kolkotta for some miscreats behaviour. Then India vs Pakistan Test match was disrupted, I was again on my back foot trying to defend Eden Gardens, my favourite ground of all the stadiums I've been to in India. And now when Kolkotta had an oppurtunity to wipe the slate clean and be a perfect host by showing their sportsmen spirit, they do this....jeer INDIA. And they are blaming our coach to showing them the finger. Well I don think I will defend Kokotta crowd anymore. They day they chose to support Ganguly and crucify INDIA, they have crossed the boundary of disency.
Well now I think Kolkotta don deserve any cricket anymore. Well amybe Zim vs Bang..

Chappel's fingure
by Prabir on Nov 28, 2005 10:36 AM

Please don't blame Greg Chappel, the moment he arrived India, his fingure is constantly busy with Sourabh, so it's quite natural that his fingure got injured. Chappel should use a good ointment.
We think this is 'next level' of cricket what Mr. Chappel wants to teach us.

Punish him
by Dr T S Raman on Nov 28, 2005 07:38 AM

If a player made similar indecent gestures on the field, he would probably be banned for a few matches and denied his match fees. The coach is also a member of the team. He should be punished likewise, and ordered to apologise. If he doesn't, he should be sacked. Will the Bunch of Jokers please take note?

No One Wanted Azad's Opinion.
by Shankar. C.N. on Nov 28, 2005 05:53 AM

If one were to go by the Rule of "Three Strikes & you are Out" Kolkata should Lose its Right to Hold an International Game at Eden Garden. The latest One might have been the 'mildest' of the Lousy Behaviour of the Crowd.

Azad is A Politician First and an Ex Cricketer second! Why is he talking in Two Tone?

Chappell's gesture condemned

Look who is talking. Kirti Azad and Ashok Malhotra.

What is their contribution to Indian Cricket....

Kirti made to world cup team on 1983 and never got to play and Malhotra was first playing for delhi and then moved to Bengal (LOL)

And yes both were selectors at some point of time and screwed Indian Cricket.

According to your logic, Sachin, Rahul and their likes (who have great contributions to Indian cricket) can emulate Mr Chappell and make such obscene gestures in public ! That's brilliant !!

Chappell has shown his 'level'
by aj on Nov 28, 2005 01:58 AM  | Hide replies

What an abject surrender! Is this Chappell's so called Next level? He has already shown us his "level" by stooping so low as to raise the "finger". He should be got rid of immediately!
He has offended the sentiments of all of India....Team management is defending the indefensible....protest is the right of the people but his gesture does not befit a person holding a post appointed by the country's elected Council...BCCI will have to explain this action not only to the public but also to the parliament!!

Well if the indecent politics has resulted in our first ODI series win in many many years - I am all for it.

Frankly, Ganguly has been out of form for a long time, and merely as a batsman - he would not have been able to hold his place in the team with Yuvraj, Laxman, Kaif and now Gambhir all crying out to be picked over him. He kept his place because he was a very good captain, and if Dravid had proved to be a not good enough captain - he would/should have been back at the helm. Unfortunately for Ganguly - Dravid has proved equal to the task and more - bringing his own brand of creativity into the game.

Ganguly himself is one of the game's greats - and one has to admire how he has kept himself out of all the silly Kolkattan brand of "protesting" and clawed his way back into the test team by good performances in first class cricket. In fact there is more politics backing Ganguly is clear from the fact that nobody's questioning why Zaheer is not in the team in-spite of cleaning up dada twice for a duck in the same match. Indian fans should learn from Australia who dropped Steve Waugh when they did. Not everything is politics !

Ganguly was removed because he thought he was the king and his colleagues were his subjects.Sorry Ashish if he was removed because of his politics thats because of his own politics he stayed there for too long.

Saurav was removed from the team because of his lack of form and fitness. Chappell should be kept or removed based on performance - not because he has excellent manners. Grow up - India is a great country - and our pride cannot be hurt by some small incident like this. For a change, BCCI is doing the right thing, and the media is totally wrong - sensationalising a non-issue.
