This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard !!! Chappel raised his finger against the traitors - who were booing team India. It is they who are a blot on mother India. Chappel is a true soldier and committed coach - who feels for TEAM INDIA - rather than "injured Bengali pride" ! I show my finger too at all the bigoted Kolkattans who booed Dravid - who is proving to be a far better captain that Ganguly.

Proud Indian

Chappell's Gesture

I would like to ask one question before any comment.
Why do our cricketers work hard on & off the field, not to have a great coach for the country pride?

The gesture by Chappell have hurt the feling of indians? The Finger was pointed to our Sacred Mother india.

Why should we have a coach who shows sush gesture to our mother land?

It's very funny to say that the finger was pointed to Mother Land. Where was your sense of mother land when you guys booed the team of mother land and supported the outside team!!! I feel ashamed as a Bengali that most of the Bengalis think Bengal comes first and then there is India.

Mr. Javeed Ahmed M firstly I surprised about your point of view that Dada plays dirty politics too...
Have any example against his dirty politics?I bound to say Mr. Javeed Ahmed M that you are among the indians who think that white people are too good for anything. Not only that you are among those people who think that they understand cricket, and all politics in cricket.Plz don't write massage like that without any information about it.

Chappells attitude towards public is absolutely correct and the crowd deserves it.

Chappell's gesture
by Susenjit Guha on Nov 28, 2005 06:13 PM

A couple of decades ago, Mohinder Amarnath aptly summed up what the bunch of selectors were made of.
Chappell comes from a nation which has broken all rules of the gentleman's game----beginning with night cricket , coloured clothing, slugging, swearing at the opposition etc. Even he himself directed his brother to bowl underarm at the opposition to deny them victory.
From the past, it appears that apart from showing his middle finger at the Kolkata spectators during the last ODI, he could not have conceived of a more sophisticated way to react. His stature does not permit such losses of temperament, which otherwise would have sat pretty on sportsmen of lesser mettle.
The manager and selectors are apparently in awe of the mercurial Australian to the point of snatching powers from the captain altogether by reducing him to a virtual figurehead. Gestures like the one made in Kolkata, reported by a leading city daily with excerpts from the early morning interview when apparently he was 'fleeing' the bizzare city in the wee hours of the morning, should draw flak from all Indians possessing even the slightest of nationalistic pride.

Leave Chapell Alone

One Man tries to improve Indian cricket and all the \\\'Sportive\\\' ppl of bengal ridicule him. India can never win world cup as long as there is regionalism. If you read Danish Kaneria interview (Pakistan spinner who is a hindu). They asked him about being a hindu in Indian team, he replied he is pakistani first and then a hindu. Indians specifically bengalis need to be patriotic, country comes first all other things last.

Kolkata was hell!
by S Choudhury on Nov 28, 2005 05:25 PM

The match proved how narrow-minded were the Eden Gardens crowd. It seems firstly they are Bengalis and then Indians. And although Chappels behaviour was unfortunate, it actually showed how Kolkata messed Indian cricket that day.
