No match should be played at Kolkata
by Animesh on Nov 28, 2005 01:00 AM

Was bad performance of Ganguly the cause of his expulsion? No! Was it because he was unfit or injured? No! What was it then? His attitude. He tried to defame Greg by speaking to the media; against him. Greg was right with his constructive suggestion but the Prince of Kolkata wasn't ready to listen him under his selfish attitude.

What next? He patched up with the coach. Certainly the coach had to be fair with his seniors (bosses/appointers); So Greg sent a mail to the six commandos of Indian cricket -- Bindra, Dalmiya et al. One of the commando leaked it to the public. Damn! That's like loss of professionality for the second time against Greg.

Then Mr Ganguly said, ``One can easily think about the _character_ of a man who complains in 24 hours after putting up an argument with me.'' Was it the coach who started this business? No! It was Ganguly. Was it the coach who leaked the email? No! It was a commando. So tell me, please, why is coach so much the grudge? It should be either Ganguly or one of the commandos.

I think decision of resting Ganguly was nice. I hate his re-selection to test. The idiot even said that there will be no problems with Greg; (see question of character).

Sad to see the Indian Team booed in India
by Tahir on Nov 28, 2005 12:47 AM

It is just sad to see the Indian team boo-ed in India. It speaks volumes of the nature of this "Cricket Loving State".

Ganguly was dropped from the Indian Team. Ganguly was not the Indian Team.

So if that pissed everyone off, you should not have gone to see the match. Instead, it would have allowed for people who genuinely support the Indian Team an opportunity to see them play.

Kolkata hostility unfortunate: Dravid
by Sandip Bhattacharya on Nov 28, 2005 12:14 AM  | Hide replies

Yes, of course it is unfortunate. When people look after country's interest and protest against personal vendetta it becomes unfortunate.

India will surely win in Mumbai as India will be playing on a dead wicket.
We will continue to pat each others back and say what a great team India is. But when we go to foreign soil and face grass topped pitch we will fail miserably and then we will be busy searching holes to hide our face into

hello Mr. whateva u said was fine n right but no country in cricketing world would prepare sucha pitch to throw away the home advantage!!! Its an universally accepted truth that countries will prepare pitches to make maximum out of home conditions. OK, leave that pitch aside, what about the jeering of the crowd??? Jus coz Dada wasomitted, would ur Bengali crowd jeer the Indian team?? Don't they know what sporting culture is all about? Moreover, could you guys who support Kolkatta behavior please make a list of Dada's contributions in recent past that had enabled India to win/save a match??Sorry , for the last question, not even the trickiest statician would come to Dada's rescue.

neway, whateva happened is a disgrace!

It is shame on kolkatians to behave like this. Are they realy Indians or citizens of any other counntry? If other state peaple also behave like this when their favourite is excluded due to nonperformance, what will hapen to Indian Team and what messaged the kolkatians want to copnvey to the Indians as a whole? Do they want to convey ganguly should be included in the team even if he does not perform and cause failure of the team ? Because, ganguly is kolkatian, he can do any thing and get away with it? What is the speciality in ganguly ? Please analise how many matches he has won on hisown? Hasn't he cultivated groupism in the team and please analise, who is responsible for the debacle in the shrilanks series ? is not the non-cooperation of harbajan singh and some other players in connivance with ganguly deliberately performed very poorly to insult dravid? Are these peole really patriotic ? Some body should show and teach ganguly and his supporters sense and patriotism.

Bengalees need not get teachings about PATRIOTISM from other communities. History supports my point.

No more words can be spent on such a comment as yours.

Still in doubt?
What do U understand about the people who speak about 'communist ideology' in a democratic nation.Who support Maoists, Bangladesh terrorists? Who always worried about rights of minority, ban Saraswati pooja?
If U have doubt please go through some good history books.
Even in cricket they think Ganguli comes first and then the nation. What a shame. What happened in WC finals in SA (2003)We lost by around 152 runs in when Ganguly was leading the side.
What ever Chappel did was on behalf of true Indian fans. The crowd deserve it.

Sachin Tendulkar

After Ganguli, it is now the turn of Tendulkar.Someone has to take a bold decision without caring for a possible hooting from the Mumbai crowd. After all it is the team's interest which should come first and of the state where the ground is located.

Exclude West Bengal from further matches
by U.Asa on Nov 27, 2005 10:34 PM  | Hide replies

The behaviour of the crowd at Eden Gardens was disgraceful, parochialistic, narcissitic, shameless, traitorous. Vengefully over-applauding the alien team and vilifying our own one, just because the non-performing Ganguly had not been given a room in the team, smacks of a colonial servitude to a foreign country, a la our Communists. The BCCI should exclude West Bengal from its itinerary of matches for at least a couple of years, or until the Bengali ruffians are chastened, whichever is later.

Dravid should know that when you hit a guy under the belt you should expect to be paid back in your own coin. As for his citing the calcutta crowd booing Gavaskar, no one is above the game. And Gavaskar had to change his amend himself later and played at Eden Gardens. And Dravid is no Gavaskar, he should remeber that. about chappel's finger gesturing (salute) he should get the sack immediately. It may work back in Australia but not India.

Are you sure Gavaskar ever played in Calcutta again? If i remember right , he missed the 1987 test match against Pakistan due to personal reasons. I sincerely hope that all is forgiven and forgotten between the two. I also hope that this incident will also be soon erased from the public memory.
