For a great country like ours, driven by so much passion for the land, culture, beliefs, traditions, its disheartening to see that we are still blinded by prejuduce against one another. We were and still are being mock by the rest of the world. We call our land a symbol of 'unity in diversity'?haha thats flattering ourselves without ground.

We dont respect our achievers
by Anirban Dasgupta,Bangalore on Nov 29, 2005 01:19 AM

The crowd expected the Indian team to perform but Rahul and his men were whipped by the South Africans. The crowd expected the team to give their best but the team didn't and the crowd cheered for the South Africans. To say the least, this was always expected and crowd had to vent their anger. The way the Indian BOSS "GREG FINGER CHAPPEL",the selectors and the indian cricket pundits treated Saurav Ganguly, its quite sad for Indian Cricket.Saurav built the Indian team. You must remember Saurav was considered the golden ace of the Indian team under Sachin's captaincy in Toronto when none clicked but Saurav's effort helped India win matches. As a captain, there is no comparison between Saurav's record and any other indian captain.Hasn't he made the country proud by presiding over such a young team and bringing one of the best performances in the last world cup?Hasn't his team defeated Pakistan in their own homeland which none other could even think of?How can u compare Saurav with any other member of team who is not playing? How can you dispose him like that as if he is a tissue paper?Greg policy's is like d divide and rule policy of the britishers and he has nothing to lose but laugh at us.

by ashutosh on Nov 29, 2005 12:55 AM

i have just one thing to say......this particular discussion is of no use and is not going to solve any purpose...

i have observed one very singular point.....actually a standout....and that is....ppl are divided in their views according to the region they belong to...and this very thing is shameful

do we have to so very divided in opinions for such a trivial matter.....really shameful....

tis time for all of us to grow up.....and one more thing....putting up an open forum discussion on such trivial topics by the media and ur website is truly and completely unfortunate

Kolkatta fans-very sad
by ashwin on Nov 29, 2005 12:07 AM

It was really unfortunate to see Kolkatte jeering our national team. May be they should learn a thing or two about patriotism from the Mumbai crowd. I wonder how much the crowd behaviour influenced our performance in Kolkata. I want to use stronger words, but to say the least, Kolkata crowd behaviour was cheap. South Africans will be more comfortable playing at Eden Gardens compared to playing at Johannesberg. Shame on the people who did this.

Shame to Kolkata
by Jayakumar on Nov 28, 2005 11:26 PM

Whatever happen in Eden Garden is shame to India. If Kolkata wants Ganguly to be there in the team, let them create a new kolkata team in which Ganguly will be the captain.

In Indian team only those who perform should be give place.

Hi,

Please check your facts. In 1962 it was the Bengal regiment who faught till death inspite of orders from Delhi to retreat, when others were running. That was the reason Bengal Regiment was dismantled. So buddy check you facts before even you utter your PATRIOTIC words

Kolkatta

Hi Everybody,

How many of the people who have started commenting have been to Kolkatta Eden Garden. It holds a Lakh supporters if not less. I do agree that certain supporters did boo at the team, even if it is 10%, it is still a huge section. Unfortunately people don't realise that Gavaskar and Dravid has a big fan club in Calcutta and also that Calcutta never hesitated to boo Ganguly when he did not play well in Eden Gardens. And if you are really patriotic then stop maligning a race that has contributed to the countries future ever since it's independence over a mere insident in a stadium. If the team does not play well it is easy to point fingers. We are Bengalis and we are proud of Ganguly, the unfortunate unsung hero who made team India. I agree he needed to go at some point but not like this. And our so called patriots still support the foreigner who did that in INDEPENDANT INDIA...........HA! HA! HA!

Pointing fingure by Greg
by Alimiya on Nov 28, 2005 02:48 PM  | Hide replies

It is absolutely absurd on the part of Greg to do such act. He is a foreigner and should respect our sentiment. He is a biggest lier who once in the beginning said that Tendulkar is no more Master Blaster, subsequently changed his statement and started praising him, why? Win against SL was seems to be an understanding between two Australian coach, which otherwise was not possible as SL would not accept such humiliating defeat.

Anyway, our team will not improve unless we remove old hats and Greg and bring in waiting new caps and an indian coach.

Mate!
Match fixing is something u blokes in India excel at, not us Aussies. Quite insane of you to assume that two Aussies would team up to fix matches.
