Show Chapell the door! Reinstate Saurav NOW!!
by peediaj on Nov 26, 2005 08:20 AM

If Chapell has indeed shown the finger as reported in most news channels (Telegraph has the footage) then its high time he should be shown the door!! This obscene gesture is an affront to the whole cricketing fraternity of Kolkata and should be condemned in no uncertain terms! Kolkatans had every right to protest the exclusion on flimsy grounds of their icon. Its very clear that Saurav's exclusion had everything to do with but cricket and he has again proved his mettle under trying circumstances by cracking another century while Team India was abjectly surrendering to a humiliating defeat! Chappels bluff has been called sooner than later. Its a pity that we trusted a newcomer coach and axed the ex-captain with a proven track record due to politics by a section of vested interests whose interests seem to collide on this occassion. Sack Chapell and reinstate Ganguli!

Jeya
Unpatriotic Kolkatta!
by Jeya on Nov 26, 2005 07:29 AM

Its such a shame that Kolkatta is hardly looking like India. They would be a happy lot if all the 12 players were Bengalis. They simply never understand the value of giving a chance to young budding players. Some of them were there, not to cheer India, not even for the South Africans but for Saurav Ganguly! Kapil Dev had rightly accused the Kolkatta people for being such a healthy and selfish lot of traitors! I believe the best thing for such a state is Eden Gardens holding a Ranji Trophy Match or a Duleep Trophy Match comprising of Bengal. Only then will they be satisfied. Crowd cheering is a big morale booster for cricketers. Dravid was evidently looking too nervous in his Innings and I am not a bit surprised. It is unfair of calling Kolkatta traitors though since it is only a small selfish group of people. Others had forgotton the issue and were supporting India wholeheartedly! The protestors have something to learn from them.
In the end of the day it always seems as though the living legend Saurav Ganguly needs to be forced into the team. This is throughly Unfortunate!

Babu
Pathetic crowd!
by Babu on Nov 26, 2005 07:14 AM

Agreed India performed miserably at the Eden, but how good would Saurav's presence helped in the scenario? The team is doing all right, definitely the blind supporters of DADA will never ever witness him in a ODI in their home town, his limited-overs career is dead and buried! Support your country first, region comes next!!

Bangalies ultimate favouite icon, Saurav, is good against 'C' grade attack, when he is to face top class bowling attack, he is always back to pavilion even quicker than any tail-ender.

Kapil Bhati
Indians!
by Kapil Bhati on Nov 26, 2005 04:00 AM

I think we should not call ourselves as Indians, we are so deviced. I am in Canada and the more I get to know indians the more so I realise the same. When somebody (non Indian) asks Indians "Where are you from" the ans generally are "Andhra Pradesh", "Punjab" some even go to the length of saying their city. No wonder why Chienese people are treated so differently from Indians. Sharam karo logon tumse achhe to Pakistaani hi hain.... i have not even seen one sayin that he is from Sindh or karachit etc....
