Calcutta crowd jeering our team
by Kar on Nov 26, 2005 03:55 AM

hi
It is true that we played badly and handed ourselves a thrashing from the SA team. Jeering the team because they lose one game is not respectable behavior. Added on top ot that, we all know that the calcutta crowd is one of the more hostile ones in India. They could not accept defeat a few years ago against pakistan and hence, disrupted the match. Well, they were patriotic, but the spirit of sportsmanship was totally lost. If the other team wins, respect them for playing well.

I for one believe that the media should criticise the calcutta crowd and not praise them for this stupid act! And all that talk of Ganguly, What is his average against teams that does not include kenya, bangladesh and zimbabwe over the last two years? 20 or 35 ? well, india expects more from a top-order batsman and He is in the team because of pressure and politics, not because of his game :).

Shame on all Kolkattans!!
by Avanish on Nov 26, 2005 02:06 AM

Eden Gardens and all of Kolkata are a disgrace to India and Indian cricket. The people of Bengal have shown how narrow-minded they are. The only thing they are bothered about are the useless Sourav Ganguly - as far as they are concerned, to hell with India !! Its utterly disgraceful that they should jeer at team India. If they had any amount of decency left in them, the least they could have done is keep quiet. India should never play a match in Eden Gardens again - that will teach them a lesson. Let Eden Gardens, Kolkata and the people of Kolkata go to hell !!! who cares about them anyway.

Dr. Nitin K Dutta
Saurav's ommision
by Dr. Nitin K Dutta on Nov 26, 2005 01:09 AM

This is what happens when some vested interests kick out India's most successful captain till date. My suggestion is that in future selection committee members of the National Team should consist of people who had gracefully retired from the game rather than people whoe were unceeremoniously kicked out as in the case of Mr. Kiran More and the likes, That would perhaps save a lot 'more' pun intended players from being victimized just for the sake of 'rotation'. How can one trust Greg, after all he is an aussie; and an aussie will go to any lengths to make his side win the next world cup too. And mind you he is the person who successfully broke up the close knit Team India under the stewardship of Saurav!!! He must be loving it today...

Unpatriotic fans
by Shobhit on Nov 26, 2005 12:35 AM

I think the behavior shown at the stadium was very outrageous. I cannot imagine are they the same fans who once used to support Indian Team only because of Saurav Ganguly. Even Actors and politicians are getting carried away with it, really immature stuff. They are all supposed to set examples not put oil to flame. This clearly goes to show that Indian Team will not be able to win any World Cups. This selfish attitude has to go out of the window. People in Kolkata are more concerned about personal pride rather than national pride, really sick and shocking stuff.

The foolish way the fans behaved at Eden today
by Arunangshu Biswas on Nov 26, 2005 12:31 AM

This only shows what kind of sportsmanship does the Bengali fans carry. They were the same people who cheere d after Indiaś fine performance against the Sri Lankans. Remember the Sri Lankans were ranked second at that time. I am a Bengali, I admire Sourav , but I am shocked to see the present conditions of the fans. Surely the spirit of cricket in Bengal as well as India has degraded .
