what did John Wright do
by ravi on May 19, 2005 09:27 PM

My question to Malhotra
India has been playing intl cricket since 1936.How
many times we have won tests fairly consistently, except in John W right's tenure. He has ensured decent results,in both 5-day and 1-day versions. Is it John Wright's responsibility to cure
ganguly's weakness against short pitched bowling.inspite of it ganguly has performed reasonably well in the 5-yr period. For malhotra,it is a case of sour grapes.

Oh...my dear Malhotra !! Its really pity on reading your heart burn. After all you could find only one thing (Ganguly's short pitch delivery fiasco) that Mr. Wright could not rectify..!! this is good example for a great saying " "Please look at the Doughnut and not the hole in its centre"

Strange Comments
by suvomoy on May 19, 2005 06:54 PM

The article seemed strange and the comments stranger.

If in any case Malhotra has given a statement who are the people asking about his credentials.

I know him being in the responsible seat of Zonal Selector for last few years.
These guys should start looking back before passing sarcastic commenots just for the sake of doing it.

who should be India cricket coach
by ramesh on May 19, 2005 06:13 PM

Personal aspirations should be personal and should not show up infront of national interests. Ashok should learn that. Coaches should have a cold head and a cooperative body that handles vigorous travel and impart training. Australians have a better stamina than Indians and are more professional and cold headed. Guys like Amarnath can always be approached by players to talk to, but for gameplans and coaching and different thought process, I guess, we should look out of our pasture.

What did John Wright do?

Well I may accept this synonym to a certain extent but not fully. Eventhough India performed commendably in some Test matches, it still had not won any Overseas Series. Other than John Wright, had any Madan Lals or Ashok Malhotras or some 'x' coached Indian Team in my opinion still the result would have been the same. India's performance in Oneday arena is even more pathetic. John Write did not do any thing special to stop the Indian sliding from supposed to be no. 2 position to the current number 8 position (shame its just above Zimbabwe and Bangladesh!!!!). But then whoever will take over the helm, we sincerly wish him to take us to the next level....let it be Malhotra or Chappel...or whoever...

If we assess the teams that India had, this was by far the best team. Drawing a series Down Under, the show at Pakistan (the best by an Indian team), reaching the world cup finals is this not enough for a `great' player like Malhotra? You just cannot take the credit away from a coach just by saying `he was lucky to have the best team'. A bad coach can ruin a best team. J Wright was just good. The players say that. And that to me is final. Let's not allow a misguided nationalism to rule or ruin us. Let all this nationalism be shown in buying Indian products and making our economy grow.
