What did John Wright do
by chenchu on May 19, 2005 10:54 AM

In my view, he has done a great job to the Indian team as well as to the Captain Saurav. Their mutual understanding is far better. Its totally Saurav fate to come up from the cricis. I hope Saurav will be flying colour in near future.

Typical desi mindset
by Ravi on May 19, 2005 10:35 AM

This small report is so reavealing of the typical desi mindset that prevails in the establishment. Showing respect is more important to this fool rather than getting the best coach for India. A person who is so agitated by his exclusion deserves to be excluded. This is so typical of the Indian mindset. Rest on your past (however obsucre in this case) performances, question other person's effort, demand respect without anything to show for it,play politics, trade horses and in general run after entitlements. No wonder no Indian guy, however great a player, has not made a good coach.Too little professionalism. Too little dedication. Too much self-aggrandization.No wonder Aussies are the best team.Their cold, calculated, scientific and professional approach is what wins games. Emotional idiots like these depend too much on random sparks of talent. As a nation, we not only depend on, but worship too much random sparks of talent and not just pure, cold, result-generating, professioanlism - and there in and only there lies the malaise of Indian Cricket.

What did John Wright do
by SS Balaji on May 19, 2005 10:13 AM

Well well well, looks like the corpsesare coming out of the wood work. Before asking what did John do, i wonder who is this bloke Malhotra. I certainly dont remember him playing ever forget about his being a coach.

jimmy is definetely a much better choice comapred to Malhotra. At his he has a track record of playing at the highest levels consistently. And for Malhotra, god knows what his credentials are.

If he cant understand what John did then i think he should not be allowed to come any where near a cricket stadium. After all it only takes a fool to undo the good.

Malhotra upset
by Shivkumar Sivadas on May 19, 2005 09:50 AM

I have only one question for Mr. Malhotra, "What have YOU done for India, that you should even be considered to be the national coach"? A mediocre middle order bat at best, he should be happy that he got a chance to play for India, and stop at that!

John Wright,Ganguly & Ashok
by m on May 19, 2005 09:48 AM

There are two things to that aspect of Ganguly's problem with short balls.John tried and also many others like Gavaskar,Greg Chappel....But what can you say when Ganguly himself refuses to learn the lessons imparted!! You can't blame John Wright just for not working on Ganguly's problems...

Ashok Malhotra talks like a fool!
by Ram on May 19, 2005 04:17 AM

Guys,
Ashok Malhotra tslks like a fool. At one stage, he says Jimmy Amarnath will not be a good coach as he feels he might have lost touch with the game.Later, he feels that Jimmy should be given the coaching opportunity against experts like Greg Chappell, Tom Moody, Desmond Haynes & Co.Again he feels Sandip Patil must be given a chance when Sandip himself has pulled out of the race due to his assignments elsewhere. My gut feeling is that this man is both angry and jealous that he was not given the coaching opportunity at all. Don't consider his words. It is good that we did not approach him to take the responsibility of a coach. He would have let the team down. What a stupid guy is he!

Ashok Malhotra Who??
by Tarun Dhot on May 19, 2005 02:51 AM

It might sound a bit uneasy but does anyone know who this Ashok Malhotra is.. And what does he mean by "What did John Wright" do..I heard the name of this person first time in the article and it said that he's only played 6 odd test matches..well what a record to boast off..and how can he doubt the capability of Jimmy Amarnath..and at the same point he says it will be a big insult for a legend like Jimmy if he didnt get the coach's job..I guess this was a typical politicians statement.. This gentleman's case cannot even be considered to be a "Crying over spilt milk" instance.. Sorry buddy..but you dont have that punch and performance required to make such a statement..And please certainly dont doubt either John Wright or Sourav Ganguly's abilities and capabilities..
I just again wonder..Ashok Malhotra Whoooooooo????????/

Yes.... Indeed hahahahah
by Vamsi on May 19, 2005 01:31 AM

Yeh..Consider him or why consider..just directly appoint him as the Indian team coach.Mr.Ashok..who? (Malhotra i guess). He is very famous,as he says.I have never heard about this guy.I mean..Who is this guy anyway? Who went and talked to him in the first place? He has what..7 tests and 10 ODI's to his name and here he is commenting on people(legends)like Jimmy,John etc.But i agree on one thing he said though - "You just cannot get up one fine day and say 'I want to be the coach of the Indian team'." But Mr.Maalhothra, i think this best suits you rather than those people. So stop day dreaming and try to do a nice job in whatever is that you are doing now.If you are really eligible you will be noticed one way or the other.Don't worry about your skills not getting noticed.Looks like people know your skills & capabilities better than you. With such great coaches as John, if our team is in this condition, imagine the plight if guys like this come in.It's not completely in the coach. It is the team,a player as by himself should have that killer instinct in him and sholud realize what he owes to the nation and all of us cricket crazy fans in India. We love them anyway.JAI HIND.
