wat will u do?
by gautam on May 18, 2005 05:26 PM

This guy has lost his mind. This is a perfect case of sour grapes . First he never talks what he could have done, but talks wat john did. Indian cricket would have been in a mess if this COACH got what he wanted.

Cricket fans should thank heavens as COACHES like him are not being considered.!!!

John Wright
by Sudarshan on May 18, 2005 05:21 PM

Well there is a word in Hindi called Aukaad-basically means standing or position.

I would like to tell both Ashok Malhotra and Jimmy Amarnath-Kya Aukaad hai tumhari?. Both these August individuals came a cropper on the international scene (getting hit on the head Iam sorry to say is no measure of success). Mr Malhotra has done nothing worthy of even a mention.

This is the proble with all of us Indians we are a bunch of mediocre people who promote the most mediocre among us upwards...so there we have it...

The very question he poses and the answer that he gives is really ludicrous...that only accentuates his lack of understanding of the game. Jokers like him should be kept far far away from the cricket establishment

Malhotra mind your own business
by Wilson on May 18, 2005 04:10 PM

Well Mr Malhotra, instead of poiting what John Wright did or what didn't, speak what are your credentials of taking over the Indian Cricket coach.

To say the least John Wright took Indian Cricket where nobody for the past 3 decades had taken, so no use pointing finger at him, cause everybody knows his contribution to Indian Cricket and it was indeed a huge one.

Malhotra's comments are funny
by V.D.H.Alan on May 18, 2005 04:01 PM

It's not really surprising to see the comments made by Malhotra. Although he is not in the same scale of the great Lele, he is still not far behind him. People must remember the way he commented Srinath's non-selection and the way he humiliated him. Even here, he contradicts although. First, he says that Mohinder is not fit for the job. Then, he says that Mohinder is too great a player not to be selected for the coach position. Again, he goes on saying that the best person needs to be selected irrespective of the nationality. The other things need not be commented at all. Verdict is that his comments are absurd.

What did jhon wright do
by magesh on May 18, 2005 04:00 PM

A leading website like rediff should take some kind of care on how the article is prestented. The english is so bad that it was written by some 5th standard student. The grammer in the article is very bad. Kidnly take a bit of care before publishing.

He is talking about sit
by Jas on May 18, 2005 03:38 PM

It is so sad, that one former indian great talking such things & giving stupid explanations about his work for the indian cricket team. How can we forget that Indian cricket team was worlds 2nd best team after australia for 2 years under John supervision.

He is talking about not able to solve saurabh problem with short pitch stuff. If sourabh dont have this problem, we could have told he couldnot teach balaji to bat like a proper openor (as John is a batsman, he should have done it). There are certain u cant change in batsman. U cant change his style. It was so sad reading those comments from such a great player.

sour grapes
by balu on May 18, 2005 03:35 PM

a case of the dog screaming out "sour grapes" when its not reachable. only a fool can ask "what did john wright do?" its there for every cynic to see. solving each and every player's technical problem is not the coach's job. what can john do if saurav refuses to learn?!

Ashok Malhothra - The wonder kid??? :-)
by classical on May 18, 2005 03:27 PM

Hi,

Ashok Malhothra is just proving that he is just a kid. First, he is not a great player nor a coach to criticise Jimmy about his coaching abilities. This shows that he is yet another arguing kid who is not eligible as an assistant coach even with this typical mentality. Second.. he says that Jimmy will be humilated if some foreign coach is already in the selection panels head. Well if thats the case and if Jimmy knows that he is not in positive fray, he should himself make unavailable rather complaining... coz.. most of the players want a foreign coach. Second.. I wish that Mr Ashok Malhothra should be allowed to coach only Saurav and make him(saurav) play the short pitch ball successfully. ONLY THEN...he can talk the rest of the things.

This whole article by Ashok Malhothra is baseless.

Cricket & Bar Dancers
by DSK Rao on May 18, 2005 03:25 PM

Cricket in India has become everything except'Cricket'. Like the Maharashtra ban on 'Bar Dancers' , I am sure several people want a ban on Cricket also after the murky functioning of the game in India.
