No fault-finding please...

You should not force anyone to donate because he or she earns more . Everyone makes money by his effort. If cricketers are rich ,it does not means they have got the money in begging or charity. Its all their hard earned wealth. Its their choice. You cant ask for help on the point of gun.I dont know how much the writer of this column has donated? Why point a finger on cricketers every time? It seems you want to punish them for their success?

good one

Hi Adi Shankara,

good one.
may I know why we are only talking of cricketers?
there are thousands of people in India who earn more than what our cricketers earn. Infact many peoples' weekly income is morethan our cricketers annual income.
As you said we cant force people to charity we just can press them.
leave alone our cricketers none of them is in the top 50 richest people in India... why do we need to prey on these little 17. I am not telling we cant press cricketers, we have many many people who are capable of and can do a lot more to the country atleast in crisis (who are hiding when needed a helping hand)

regards
Satya

Absolutely justified in asking the cricketers to do more. Why do they have to auction their belongings and donate that money? dont they have enough money to give from their pockets? Wake up, Dear cricketers of INDIA!!! wake up!!!

I really stick to the author. What he says is correct.
I really disappointed when i come to know that our crickets are going to give one day match fees. It is not fair. Even australia announced first.

I decided to not watch or speak about cricket hereafter.

Are they fooling us?

Wonderful ! ! ! Great ! ! !Virender Sehwag's bat auctioned, Kumble's T shirt auctioned..What a great contribution to such a noble cause.True, at least they did this. But can't these richest cricketers in the world contribute something from their pocket?Sachin Tendulkar auctioned his bat(?) for contributing for Shwaas. No one wants to donate money for such a noble cause.Their heroism is a mere media talk.Media is and will be held responsible for projecting these individuals as superhumans. What good are their rhetorics of 'playing for the country' , 'dedicating the knock to the nation' blah blah when they cannot help the nation in the hour of need? Embarrassing, to say the least

Our Cricketers are maha kanjoos
by Mitesh Shah on Jan 03, 2005 04:16 PM

Our cricketers are mahakanjus. They didn't come forward when the nation is at cricis. They must understand that what they are today it is because of nation. Individually they don't hold any importance as they are getting today.

I think people are foolish now when they are worried for the sachin's injured elbow when he did'nt seem to worry at all for the nation.

The whole 17 players are maha kanjoos and people of this country must start ignoring them. My personal request is to ignore the products they endorse and give them a jolt.

Hello Editor,

There is no need to ask the greedy board and cricketers for help. And the people wont need their pity and prayer.

With Regards
Raghu

cricketers are not doing anything
by roon on Jan 03, 2005 03:27 PM

our cricketers are only good at making money. when winning games is concerned they are not bothered ,cause they will get their appearance money even if they lose. now they have proved they are pathetic when winning hearts is concerned. when the entire country is contributing hamdsomely our 11 heroes are languishing at the end of the list. they should learn from the likes of sharaprova who promised 10,000 $ even when her country is not affected. our super rich cricketers like sachin and sourav have proved once again they value money more than anything else. sachin should at least donate the money he saved as a tax waiver he got from the govt when he imported his ferrari. at least that much money could provide a lot of people with much needed aid.
