With regard to BAN for next six one day matches Ganguly should appeal and BCCI should support him in this action. Match Referee should take the conditions that are caused for delay in ending the match.
Now the question is, if ICC permits him and lifts the BAN, should he play or not? I wish Ganguly to play in the match only when is confident. Since he is running in drastic form and promoted Dhoni into 3 he should bat at no 7 and not at 4, which is reducing the opportunities to Dravid who is in Fantastic form. No doubt Ganguly is a class act. But he is only the player who is struggling with Short pitch balls.How good player you may be, you have to work on your deficiencies and improve your game. I think he should approach a batting legendary to correct his batting problems. If he doesnt play well in the next two matches... my appeal to selectors is that pls give rest to Ganguly for the next series against Srilanka. Ask him to prove himself. We cannot ask Sunil Gavaskar to lead the team now becos he has played well against West Indies. UPs and Downs in the career are normal. Ganguly should try to overcome it.
Saurav is lucky as he got a break from playing cricket officially. He is a person with terrific fighting spirit. He will come back and surely and certainly silence his critics.
He should now dedicate more time in net practice.Everyone knows how a good knock will change the scenerio for Saurav. He just need one good knock..........and the bowlers will feel hell on earth.
i think ganguly is being made the scapegoat..let us see our neighbours first eventhough they lost to australia so badly they still reposed faith on him same is the case with greame smith of south africa tooo..we are toodemanding..give the man his share of lucktoo
Banning Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly for 6 matches is too harsh. Well I guess Darren Lehmann was suspended for fewer matches than Sourav after he passed racial remarks, which I think is a greater offence. Chris Broad should be given a seat outside the boundary lines in the heat and should understand the temperature in the field. Its very easy to sit in a air conditioned room and suspend players. I agree to the fact that Sourav's recent show has been dismal but it seems that people can make you hero as well as zero in a matter of time. Papers like Times Of India have gone to an extent calling Ganguly an embarassment as a batsman and in form Ganguly, a tiger in the sub continent and overseas a tiger on paper. If a player is playin so poor but still manages average of 40+ in both forms of game, then imagine how greater a player he is? I think Sourav should not play the Kanpur ODI coz the team is already picked, but he should come back for the Delhi match. Undoubtedly he is one of the best batsman frm India and the undisputed best captain.
The cricketing fraternity starts their career in mid to late teens. By the time they are 20 something we have some real good players from every state league and the national teams that play first class matches. Each of these teams have a captain!
If each of these represent the best at a certain level and a captain is to represent the best we have from that crop, then why is their little choice in openers, captains, or for that matter, any speciality?
The main problem is: How many of us know names of payers outside of the playing 11? I think there should be at least 3 teams that are of equally good quality that could be used and rotated (in a way to compete against each other). So we can have each team playing 20 matches a year. And in the end before world cup we will be able to find a choice of good players that have exposure to international cricket and at the same time are cream of the cream.
I think we ought to have other players (as many as possible) in the lime light. So when a national team is picked we are reasonably sure that we are leaving out somebody that is really good but nobody has seen much of him. may be there is a dravid or ganguly lurking somewhere?
I am surprised to see Dravid made the Captain. What about Kumble. The captains has to be a top order batsman or what? By giving captaincy we will destroy one more player like Dravid and put him out of form and team. Kumble anyway is in and out of the team, so why not give him a chance. He is one of the senior players. One never know about his abilities unless tried it out. Shewag is straight away given vice captaincy. This is injustice to Kumble.
Ganguly has to play remaining two one day matches in Kanpur and DELHI, he definetly lead the india to win posion and series as well.SO don't drop ganguly, please reinstain ganguly again, nothing wrong in it.
