Hi Well there is no doubt that Ganguly is one of the Best Indian Skipper all time.But only bcoz of this we can not keep him for the next 10 years.Cricket is all about the team,n having a player especially when he is captain who is not even to support the team in amy manner.Than the best idea is to drop him from the squad. If still the Indian Team Selectors want to see him on the filed,then the best thing i would suggest them is to give him a bottle of water n tell him be 12th man. He has not performed in single match in the recent past.I really don remember that when he made ny contribution in the winning of Indian team. Cmmn,when we can drop a player like Kumble (who is in form,performed well in all sences),then why it can not be done with Ganguly. N again with the context of being banned n gaing coming ban,i would simply feel tht this is something which Cricket but even any straem of context would allow. Sorry Ganguly,why dont u better take some'SONA-CHANDI' chyavanprash n then try ur sword.
I think for a person to be a captain, the person should do well as a player. Take the examples of other captains(leave out newbies) every one is acting as an example to the other players in the teem. But Saurav is just titled as captain but not fulfilling his duties. I can agree that every player has good and bad time, but failing continously is unbearable. Some of his reckless performances in getting out quickly shows if he is eligible or not. People say that we won most matches in his captaincy ... but hey!!! see the results ... did captain contributed in any one of the big wins in recent past? i dont think so. Any person acting as a captain can bring this result. I feel that Saurav's contribution to the team is standing there for 50 overs(some times) and going to the camera when during the man-of-the match session. If the captaincy is a deteriorating his batting performance free him from tha burden and give him a chance as a player for 3-5 matches(say 1 series), if he performs well well and good otherwise send him to play on domestic level and improve his performace there and return back. Rules should be same for every one. And Mr. Dalmiya should shink for team benefits.
I think, critques of Ganguly should take a nice shower before they pass their opinions. I wish, our memory is extremely fresh regarding Team India's performance under Sachin's captaincy. Lets not spend words on fact sheets. Yes I do agree that the recent form of Saurav definetely asks justification of his inclusion in the team. Lets take a breath !!! cricket lovers !! I am sure that you are watching crickets around the world as well..have you noticed the form of Stephen Fleming !! Hardly there is any questions raised in their media...we need to accept the reality that everyone has slump in his career...Was there any question arised regarding Sachin's performance in the first three ODIs - the answer is an emphatic "NO". I know, it itches some people to accept the fact of Ganguly's contribution in developing Team India. We should never forget the sacrifice he made by releasing his customy opening slot in oneday where has has scored 22 centuries.
The fact the criticism is in the bone marrow of some people and you can only eradicate the same by bone marrow transplantation.. As we all know thats extremely costly !!!! Ganguly will definitely hit back at them with his bat vey soon !!
soem one has written that he is the best as a captain,,,don't see the past records,,india has won matches under his captaincy just becuase of our team performance. In the last 2 0r 3 years he is not scoring runs,,(couple of times scored hunderds against kenya)..and his fielding is like a school child,,,A captian sholud lead from the front..he has to show the way to others.compare our captain with another team captains(ricky,inzy,lara,smith,fleming, enen taibu),,u can easily know the difference,,,,,...If ganguly is not a captian he will not be chosen as a player in the team ,,As a matter of fact ganguly is aware of that...
b4 passing any judgements, think abt 1 thing - Y did ICC ban him? Coz, of slow-rate by Team India. Now, come on peeps... whatever ICC thinks of it, Ganguly was trying to win the game 4 Team India.
Evry1 who talks abt captains around the world doing very well. Now, Ponting hadn't scored a test century for abt 9 months in 2004. Flem was a big flop agnst Glenn n Brett. Smithy was a sitting duck 4 Hoggie. Brian (m a v big fan of him!) could do nothing agnst Harmie till the 400 came up. What did Inzy do at the 2003 World Cup?

For those who want Ganguly to go at all cost it should be reminded that let us not forget his contributions.What is his fault if the bowlers dont finish their quota of overs in time and bowl extra overs by way of wides and no balls.He is out there to win matches for India and in sultry heat and humid conditions if he takes time and faces ban for placing field then so be it.Winning is more important than just finishing your quota of overs.
Ganguly contributions should not be played down even though I agree that he is going through his worst career crisis.We need a leader who has a winning attitude and Ganguly has in plenty.
So I will directly take him in to the team even when it means axe for Sriram.
Captain Ganguly should play but not the batsmen Ganguly. This is common comment been seen & heard, from most of the cricket lovers & ex-cricketers. I really don't agree with Captain Ganguly playing, coz Ganguly is under tremendous pressure for not scoring runs & that will defnitely affect his Captaincy as well.
The part of the blame should goto the excessive coverage by the media, emotionally cricket followers & various thoughts & ideas by ex-cricketers.
Best solution currently for Ganguly would be to go back to nets & workout on his batting ONLY. He should not be too worried about his captaincy as he can get it back The day he decides to comeback. It's good keeping in the interest of the Team India as well. Ganguly as a Captain & match winning batsmen is what we would like to see.
