6 match Ban on Ganguly
by Ravi Chivukula on Apr 15, 2005 02:29 AM

I think we should come to grips that all of these are fixed. The 3 test series is 1-1 draw. The very fact that BCCI increased the number of ODIs from 5 to 6 in guise of acquiescing to Pak board to make the teams play test at Ahmedabad, makes me wonder that the ODI series will end up 3-3. Now with Ganguly being out of batting form, despite giving a warning for slow over rate in 3rd ODI, the over rate was slow in 4th. He was given 6 match suspension as a result. BCCI and Ganguly will appeal, the penalty will be reduced from 6 to say 2, 3 or 4 (since India next is scheudled to play mighty B'Desh, I think). THis is a graceful way of keeping Ganguly out of the next 2 ODIs (as the results of remaining are fixed with each team splitting). I am curious to find out if India will win in Delhi therby thumping the nose of Mush (though he may not watch the entire game). As part of peace process, no team would come out on top of the other. ALso readers, please read Asish Mangotra's article, Singling out the losing cause and think if Ganguly is such good strategist and team India think tank is so intelligent (??), why we lost 4th ODI???

Ganguly

before we speak on such subjects as 'whether ganguly has to play or not', let's ponder over the ROOT CAUSE.i feel the real culprit is Dalmia and BCCI practices.

if we observe closely, the style of Dalmia and Ganguly is quite close and similar. Mr dalmia assumes the role of a super power and known for his dictatorial policies and arrogance. similarly, ganguly is known for his aggressive style of functioning and he backs only those players whom he likes. FAvourites - Yuvaraj, Bhajji, Zaheer...
non-FAvourites - Laxman, Kumble...

similary, Dalmia is the SAVIER of ganguly.

if we observe closely - time and again Laxman proved his worth and class. but, never got his due.
and it is Ganguly who unsettles laxman time and again. same is the case with Kumble, being an accomplished bowler,he never got his due.

final word:
Let ganguly face the consequences of his deeds, let him learn his lessons and get his disciplined act together. I feel BCCI or Dalmia coming to the rescue of Ganguly, is quite unhealthy, let ganguly un-learn certain grey areas.

the functioning of BCCI is partican and professionalism is gravely misssing, it is functioning as a POLITICAL PARTY

discrimination

For a few years now I have always wanted to speak my mind out not only in front of friends or

relatives or colleagues but to a larger audience.

This is in regards to the sanctions against the INdian captain by the ICC.. This is not in

defense or offence of Saurav Ganguly, but in the larger interest of the asian community.

For long we have all witnessed how Asian players have been victimised. There have been

instances where Asian players have been fined for excessive appealing or display of emotions

when there are players from teams like Australia, S. Africa who go scot free. The language and

gestures that these players use is more offensive and to an extent rascist but the authorities

seem to ignore when it comes from players from these teams.

There have been occasions when poor Venkatesh Prasad was fined for displaying his emotions

when he got the better of Aussies batsmen.

Every cricket fan would remember the infamous incident involving Rahul Dravid and

Michael Slater in a test match , B'lore if I am not mistaken. Slater's attitude and the

way he raised his bat and waled towards Rahul did not draw and fine or ban on Slater.

Not only with Indians but on seve

There is no justification of keeping Ganguly in the team. He has been a terrible non-performer. DO NOT GO ON HISTORY. Go on what the current situation and performance. Going on history will bring the greatest like Bradman, Gavaskar, Kapil, Botham etc.etc. He has been a LUCKY captain NOT A GOOD CAPTAIN.
