Team India: lost in diplomacy
by The touch on Oct 29, 2004 06:18 PM

Team India has lost in diplomacy.
1. The diplomacy of team selection (preference for Ganguly's choice over those shedding blood on domestic pitches)
2. The diplomacy of pitch selection (crying over Nagpur pitch, just forgetting that they also lost at banglore on tailor made pitch
3. The diplomacy of media attention where they want stars in the team and not hard-working and effective not so big money creating players like shriram, hemang badani, venugopal rao, dinesh mongia, dhoni, munaf patel, etc.etc.etc.
4. Even the diplomacy not to allow former players played for the country as Indian but BCCI players so as to avoid BCCI from any problems.

Where is cricket?
Can we get rid of diplomacy in cricket? we as a nation should.

SUPERB PERFORMANCE BY KANGAROOOOOS
by Vinay on Oct 29, 2004 06:05 PM

One should congratulate Aussies for their performance. They are much better prepared this time and had determined to win in India this time. For Indians,no doubt they good for ads..... now they must sit and think and put their minds togather and get back to some serious cricket.... With Africans are comming and hope the Indian cricket tycoooons dont let them to play at their will as Aussies did.

reality-Team India
by Vaibhav Sihorkar on Oct 29, 2004 05:56 PM

The inconsistent performece that Indian cricket team is showing for last few months is a combination of so many factors including
"too much Media hype and attention" about cricketers;
too much "Liberty given to Ganguly" as a captain to dominate the selection policy in keeping his favourite but out of form or not capable players representing Team India, and
"too much confidence on team India" to become world number 1 and topple australia from the top.

I think everything was exaggerated and the resultant is the meek loss of India one at banglore where the pitch was tailor made for them and one on the sporting wicket on Nagpur.

Team India is somewhere in 4th or 5th position in world now from taste angle and we have to be brave to accept this.

Dr. Vaibhav

Sir,
Sadagopan Ramesh was uncermoniusly shunted out despite a good performance. To solve the problems at the opener slots , he should be brought back.

Indian Batsmen
by Rajat Goyal on Oct 29, 2004 05:53 PM

I am shocked at this dismal performance put up by our frontline batsmen....On the other hand our bowlers did a commandable job with surprisingly their bats...its really time that our main batsmen shud learn batting tips from these bowlers and not from someone like Gavaskar...

Spinelss display!
by UmasuthaRao on Oct 29, 2004 05:53 PM

Yes, it was a pathetic display of spineless batting. Perhaps, ICC may examine to derecognise India from the Test playing nations, (as at one time they thought of Zimbabwe!)saving the blushes to our die-hard fans!!It is clear now that the performance of India during the last Test series with Australia, was after all a FLASH IN THE PAN, and we have neither the techinique toplay either Fast bowling or spin, nor the consistancy bowl well in the matches. Our fielding is shoddy, while catching is butter fingured. Less we talk of our Wicket (wicked) keeping better it would be. Is there no accountability for the selectors who persisted with Parthiv Patel? His scoring odd runs, while dropping a "Century of Catches"; more than off sets the runs scored by Parthiv vs runns scored by the batsman whose catches were dropped by him! It is a shame to the nation of such a poor display offighting spirit by the tream, and a bid fraud played on millions of Cricket fans. More than the fans, I pity the Optimisitic Cricket commentators, who time and again, hope against hope, wish the players would come good to "save the face" for Indian Cricket, only to "cut a sorry face".God save the Country.!

Inefficiency rewarded
by B Raju on Oct 29, 2004 05:49 PM

It is with great pain that every Indian cricket lover would have read the article. The Indian Cricket Board calls itself a professional organisation. In which organisation will an employee (whose life time earnings will not be equal to what a lowest paid Indian International cricketer earns in a year) get away with consistent non performance. If the religion of Indian Cricket is to be followed , then any person doing any job be he a sweeper , clerk , executive or a top management official should be paid a minimum of Rs 20 lakhs per year plus the regular salary whether he works or not. Alternately , give a chance to all the youth in India who are in the age group of 18 to 25 years (whether he has passed Class 12 or not )to play international cricket for one year and allow him to earn whatever he can in that one year which he cannot earn in his lifetime possibly. A different bunch of youth can be selected for the next year's series. This way atleast unemployment in our country can be sorted out.
Why only one bunch of guys alone should enjoy?
