Our Cricket team
by Idiculla on Oct 30, 2004 01:16 AM

Why the hell should guys like Patel, Laxman, A.Chopra represent India when they were playing for Australia??!!! Even our Captain has to find a place in the team if he has to continnue. It is a shame to watch these guys play with such callous attitude. We are a country of a billion people. I cant believe that these are the only fellows who can play for India and then, make a mess of the game. Even the great Tendulkar needs to have an over-review to see if he is fit to play for the country now.

Cricket downfall
by Vikas on Oct 30, 2004 12:14 AM

I think that the reason why batsman are not performing is not the poor form but the handsome money they are getting .

Why cricket board is paying this much money to them?

They feel that they are safe in the team so why to play .

If they will get nuts then they will do hard work to live life and will win the match as a layman who know that he has to perform to earn his bread and butter ,he cannot make any mistake as he know that he may kicked out of his job....if government is cutting cost everywhere cut their cost as well it is useless to spend so much money on them .

I am sorry to say but this is truth. :(

final frontier
by jayanth ram .g. ayyar on Oct 30, 2004 12:07 AM

the indian team now is in a very bad shape if tis continues then there is no need to say that we would be washed out in the next test.... the main reason is that all the oppsition team knows the key factor " SACHIN GETS OUT ALL OTHERS SUCCUMB" that is a fact....every1 expects 200% from a man who has just returned to international cricket after a long gap...please indian team just get the courage and go for it !!!! while playing do not see the aussies as the world's no 1 .... just look at them as ordinary players .... they also use the same ball to bowl and a bat to bat and we also use the same so where is the game going wrong!!! it is a million dollar question??? we cannot make a point on any players coz each of the players have done the job most of the time and brought laurels many a time that can't be counted on.... so come on india play the australians as u play with the street side boys ..... do not get taken away by this test match ..... we can prove ourselves to the kangaroos how to play with the indian tigers in our own forset ..... let's do it

India's defeat by Australia
by Rajesh Das on Oct 29, 2004 11:02 PM

Well the final frontier finally crumbled. People might say that the series is decided, but Inida need to fight in Mumbai, and try and win the match. WEll lets go a bit back in history.. the Australians under Kim Hughes were smashed by the Windies, in 1985-86, at home. Struggling in the first 2 tests .. they were hopelessly grounded in the next 2 losing in similar pathetic proportions as the current Indian team has lost this series. Two men stood up .. Kim Hughes owning responsibilty for defeat and retired, and Allan Border was appointed skipper. While they managed to barely draw the next match, the aussies finally won at Sydney ( if I am not mistaken), beating the Windies as ruthlessly. While I am not suggesting that Saurav retire or Dravid take over, I simply am saying that dont change the team. First-Gods sake leave the kid Parthiv alone. He just needs guidance and support to sort out his keeping, thats all. He's not all that bad. Second- please get back Sanjay Bangar as opener, instead of another youngster. Also Bangar is a handy seamer. Third- please banish all thoughts of Yuvraj Singh opening. He's no good. Finally dont kick out Kaif just bcos of one failure.
Come on guys WIN

Bad luck.. this is a good lesson not to make players larger than life
by Suresh Paritala on Oct 29, 2004 11:00 PM

I would think this as a good lesson for our players. And also for the supporters and media who are focused so much on one player, rather than a team. I saw (ridiculously) so many columns whether sachin's gonna play or not. Look what happened now, he did not make much of a difference (may be he had a rough patch). I am not saying he is a bad player.

But people should understand that focusing on a single player is certainly not a good way to approach a TEAM game like cricket. So stop the fuss and start supporting TEAM india.

India's Loss-Reasons
by Karthik sriram on Oct 29, 2004 10:55 PM

Reason No.1: WORST ever WICKET KEEPING.. PArthiv Patel deserves to be flogged. Crucial catches dropped meant India's Loss.

Reason No.2: Indian batsmen have become complacent. With all the hue and cry about the famed 5 etc etc, Indian batsmen have come to consider themselves as Gods.

Reason No.3: Most Important one. Ganguly must realize that people like yuvraj, laxman are useless and one match/series wonders. better players like Badani must be given a chance. On any day anywhere, Dinesh Karthick or M.S. Dhoni would be 100000 times better than Patel

SPINELESS SHOW
by JOSEPH VARGHESE on Oct 29, 2004 10:24 PM

I would say the way the batsmen has played is nothing short of disgrace. They have let the country down. These greats didn't show an iota of grit the tailenders showed. The greats have taken for granted the place in the team and they seem to say that now the tails should only contribute. These greats have brought the moral of the team down.

It is high these greats have been made accountable for which the country has showered in terms of love, money and fame. I think the teams have to selected not on basis of past glory ,but the present performances, whether it is Saurav,Tendulkar,Laxman or for the matter The Wall Dravid.

The message has to go and they be told "Perform or be damned".Let the young breed with killer instinct come in.

Congratulations!!!
by charanjay on Oct 29, 2004 09:17 PM

Super Victory!!! Kudos to the Aussies. Great display by the whole team. Indians were just dreaming the 2001 Series, waited for things to happen and never woke up from their deep slumber. And what a display by the Aussie batsmen, Martyn WOW... it sends a thrill down the spine when he displayed his gustiness in Chennai and the command he had in Nagpur...
Poor show by Indians, all the needless hype on Tedulkar phooo... He's still human. and the Aussies won with pacers unlike the past but veru much similar to the SA victory. And this is a very good opportunity for a South African revival!!!
