indian cricket needs serious changes
by rahul on Oct 30, 2004 06:06 PM

Ganguly was a successful captain only because we were batting and bowling well.

Rahul has great captaincy brains but we can see his baating average as a captain in tests in just 11.
so no use of him being captain.

Next matured and commited player is kaif and he should be made captain.

Rahul got out to very good ball in all innings but laxman got out ot poor deliveries. he has taken his place for granted in the team. he used to play well against aussies and now that he has flopped,he should be sacked.

there are so many youngsters who should be given a chance to play.

It seems that some of the greats have started the season in a manner some of us start a new day at work do after a long vacation, in a leisurely fashion. There has been a lack of urgency in everything they have done on the field. Except for a few of the youngsters like Kaif, Pathan, Harbhajan (also Zaheer and Sehwag in the dieing stages of the innings) who have stood up, the remaining players simply gave in. It seems fair enough to say that the Indians simply did not have the stomach to fight. The Australians on the other hand were better prepared. They have for sure learnt a hell lot from their last tour of the sub-continent and they did show a sense of urgency in every aspect of the game. They also seemed to have a plan for every situation and at times even two. McGrath and Gillespie are no doubt champion bowlers but the good thing was even Michael Kasprowicz who is not express and got hit around the park last time, was willing to learn from his past experience. Overall I think the Australians curbed their natural instincts of aggressiveness well, were prepared to grind it and had a better plan which they executed to the perfection. That made the difference. The better team won.

' The Greats '
by sanjeev on Oct 30, 2004 04:25 PM

We should immediately cease the word 'Greats' for our so called 'Great Cricketers'. If any of our Ex.Greats are retained in the team for the Bombay test or for the subsequent Tests with South Africa, they should be paid for each run scored or per each wicket taken instead of paying huge lumpsum amount in lakhs as match fee. Let us say/fix Rs.2000/- per run OR 20,000/- per Wicket .

Coming to 'chopping' of the non performing players, it should start with the Captain who incidentally absconding from the team whenever it is in dire straits as we have seen him in the NZ series last year and the series with Pakistan when he faked some injury in the middle of the series and Rahul had to take over. In both these series, the balance was not in favour of India when he withdrew from the team on the pretext of injury. Same thing happended in this Australia series ( when Australia leading 1-0 in the series), on the first morning of the match in Nagpur he found an escape route through injry.

Such people cannot be allowed to lead the Indian Team.
It's time the selectors choose a new and responsible Captain and what a better time to start than for the Bombay Test.

Jaise administrtors waise Team
by Kans on Oct 30, 2004 04:19 PM

There is nothing wrong in our team or their talent. It is only there is no focus and no one to tell them the job on hand. With the Board resembling street side cricket club (where the one owns the bat gets to bat even after getting out twise) the team or its coach lacked game plan. When you add internal politics (When Sachin is there then there is no Ganguli / Green top at NAgpur to settle score with BCCI president election etc..)to the situation then you have the Border - Gavaskar trophy in platter addressed to Austrlian team.

Gilly would have repended his decision to play second innings (did he had the hope that India will play till 5th day or was it only he wanted his team members to enhance their records ??)

Only a strong board backed up with talent will deliver. Its time we cricket fans know this and see how we can act on this. Other wise we can always see Indian manson like Cricket victories - win when most unexpected and lose when confidnet of winning.

Heroes to zeros

I think the contract policy of the board is the main reason for the teams horrible show.
Do the members deserve 50 lakhs per annum and 2 lakhs per test.
This is ridiculus , waste of public money.
Players payment must be directly proportional to their performance.Failure once in a way is ok, not so regularly.
think even scotland can beat Team India now.
Too much of a money is causing our players to concentrate on all othher things except for what they are being paid for.
Pl circulate this to all members.

Thanks

australia india series
by omkar on Oct 30, 2004 04:15 PM

congralutions to australia for breaking the shackles.
they have conquered us and brought indians to their knees.

the indian team has shown the upper and lower limit of their performance in past 1 year. same old fashion cricket tactics are not going to work against the might of australia.

parthiv has no excuse to follow his performance. parthiv was responsible for 5-6 catches n stumping dropped, 50+runs misfielded. chopra has been given a chance to prove himself, but he made mess out of it and no where he showed pormise of improvement. yuvraj showed what lethargy can do to good player, he was reluctant to learn from his mistakes. tailenders have scored more runs in the series and that to consistenly. pathan has been over burdened with loads of expectations.

great indian batting line-up needs to be changed.
australia donnot have any player of the caliber of sachin, dravid, laxman but they scored more runs. afetr all 50+ runs from 7 mediocure batsman is far better than 100+ from one or two great batsmen.

last australian teams were unsuccessful to win here because over aggression, this team did it because of controlled aggression.

Team India

I think we should now concentrate on promoting Hockey & Football in india.. poor guys, what have they done? All Pepsi's, Coke's & Sahara's should look into this seriously... Our "GREAT" Indian cricket team and the so called great batsmen lack everything other than money.. aren't we sick & tired of watching India lose matches in such a shameful manner... Iam sure even after all this, like jokers, we will still cheer for them in the coming matches......
