Time To Think Differently
by Amit Sehgal on Aug 22, 2004 12:24 PM  | Hide replies

I feel the reason for India's defeat was the old thinking that they still seem to drag and get no where with. When the wickets are falling and the run rate is going up,why not send Ajit Agarkar up the order.A calculated risk.Either he will play or he will be out.If he gets going, run rate most likely will come down coz he lives life on edge.At that time all you require is quick fire 30-40 runs and the match turns on its head. That is what is required in such situations instead of sticking to the same old fashioned hiearchary.
Look at Pakistan, they boast of allrounders such as Razaaq,Azhar Mahmoood and now Shoiab Mallik. It was all just coz Wasim Akram made them bat in the first six in their one day carrer and today they are match winners. Why not do the same with Agarkar or Pathen esp when we know that they have the ability to make runs with bat. They have the ability to be all-rounders.All we need to do is polish their skills. Then at the end of the day we cry that we are looking for all-rounders.You need to make the most use of the resources that you have and not sulk at what you dont have.I expect Mr.Ganguly that he will change his thinking that has cost us a final and this starter.

Indian players will never learn from the past mistakes.the 3 month break after pak tour is doing the damage.they have done a lacklusture performance in srilanka and it continues in holland too.

what is the use of long batting line up?if 2 or 3 players play well then we would have won.so many games had been lost from the hands from winning position.only God can save Indian team.

Hopelessness of continuing Ganguly as Skipper
by Atul on Aug 22, 2004 11:22 AM

Neither the tactics nor the batting of Ganguly is working because his basic premise and technique/physique are all wrong. Why he persists with Dravid as WK because Dravid may not outshine him and take over his role so negate and subdue him by shoving the addl. responsibilty. His theory of seven Batsmen has been proven wrong time n again. Why does he continue with it. It's time that he's made to pay and chucked out as Skipper, only then will India improve. Are Selectors and honorable media listening?

poor performance of indian cricket team
by naresh wankar on Aug 22, 2004 11:08 AM

the performance of indian cricket team in Videocon cup Vs pak. is very pooooooor. players like sehwag, Kaif , Lakshman need some rest from haesty schedule of cricket they must play in first class cricket for some time so that they can get their basics right. insted of them one Batcumwicketkeeper like M.S. Dhoni, Badani & gambhir should get chance. the performance shows that indian team is Around Sachin. Dravid should be free from the keeping job sothat he can focous on Batting.

Differential Treatment

Any one following the news on any of the channels would know how the failure of any of the Indian Olympic contingent's is being mentioned with such harsh language.

Now these guys come once in 4 years and possibly lose out at their most important moment in the 'world' arena. Many of them probably last 3-4 olympics and then the youngsters replace them

Most of these games have no money, no hopes from the billion people of the country. So if they won a medal it is an occassion to celebrate and if they didn't, they surely dont deserve such harsh language meted out to them by various media.

Now take our cricketers, match after match series after series. They have hardly positioned themselves towards a comfortable victory. There are billions of people who invest their precious time, and have great hopes (in the name of atleast this match India would win). Indian team is insensitive to this and they keep continuously goofing up.

If their kind of attention was given to our olympians, we would have lots more Rathores to celebrate.

And the media should realize there are other candidate s(Cricket) that need harsher criticism for all the centrestage they claim/seize than the olympians.

Indian players are fit for modelling
by vijay kumar on Aug 22, 2004 09:39 AM

Indian players are only fit modelling and advertisements.
When millions of people are starving for one time food in our country , i dont know how these advertisers pay crores of rupees to these people who never think of making are country pride ?

Kaif !! Better have a break.
by Sudhir Punukollu on Aug 22, 2004 08:42 AM

Can't understand why kaif can't have a break. Look at his stats. Fail fail fail again. His position should be of one who is consistant. Rip him off. Let him have a break, and ofcourse a comeback will always be better. Am not pointing this defeat at him, but look at our past losses. If not he, his batting position certainly plays a role. Better go for badani, dinesh, etc etc.
