sachin,saurav,laxman,yuvraj,kaif,Dravid etc...
by AMIT on Aug 22, 2004 08:34 PM

Saurav : Yet to learn how to tackle short rising deliveries. He cant even flick the ball on left stump!

Sachin : Not of Viv Richards class.Viv was an excellent player of very good bowling (you must see his performance against Australia and England).Of late sachin is very slow.Genuine weakness against sharp in-swingers, almost stopped playing cover drives in stead trying to work everything on up/middle stump to square/mid wicket region, the reason why he gets out there a lot! You cant be succesful against fast bowling wihout cuts and pulls.

Yuvraj : Good .Must learn how to cope beter with rising deliveries on left stump and how to play on a spinning track. He was pathetic in Asia cup final.Almost beaten every ball!

Kaif : Good. Can be more aggressive.

Dravid : Very good.Should not try to change his batting. He is alright with his limited aggression.

LAXMAN : Excellent yet looses concentration when set.Gets bowled of good length balls trying to go BACK FOOT!Too good in fast pitches and very comfortable in back foot with his trade mark cuts/puls and on-drives off ball outside off-stump.Had serious problems in pak trying to play back foot to excellent good lenth balls.

Debacle at Holland!!!!!!!!!
by AMIT on Aug 22, 2004 08:07 PM  | Hide replies

The cricket adminstrators MUST groom young FAST bowlers first thing.Dennis Lille will NOT give us FAST bowlers at MRF.Have an academy that BCCI runs, spots and sponsors the kids at their pre-teen with scholarship to make 'em real fast bowlers who can deliver 150-160 consistently.

India is an below average team with occasional sparks.A complacent bunch with a taciturn coach. We need task masters that pulls up just anyone!

Dear Amit,
If Sachinz not in d class of Viv Richards, wat shud he do, quit playin cricket???????????.Sachinz never claimed tat hez d best. its d spectators, commentators n d ex cricketers who are of tat opinion.
If sachinz battingz slowed down, tat doesnt mean hez lost his touch. hez d best judge of his own game n i think we shud leave it to him how he shud bat. try to accept d change buddy n if u r not able to go n grab a copy of who moved my cheese
(nowadays sachin bashing seems to b in fashion!!!)

are you really only second to australia??????????
by chandu on Aug 22, 2004 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

dear friends
i personally watch the match for the first time. I feel so sad for the way our players carry the game. We have a captain who doesnt want for any chages. Then it would better for the sake of our team india to get rid of him. I am amazingly surprised by so called great batting line up who has 8 specialist band one all rounder (who can bowl a bit and bat little bit) and so called grooming all rounder as whole cant play just 25 overs in a match. if you observe carefully irecent except very few matches all the teams scored more than 250 against us. that shows our strength of bowling. there are enough keeping mistakes (here u cant blame him becaz he is not specialist). Then no point in fooling others saying we are only second to australia. The problem with these guys are they always look for their perosnal bests and wait for new contract system and plenty of advertisemets. i dont understand the role of 7th specialist batsmen at all.

First of all thank you for reading my remarks.I aint into a debate game here.It was my observation of a great player who seem to have lost his sheen lately.I myself a great admirer of sachin, cant bear him playing second fiddle! Yeah we do need to proposition him to the very best in history of cricket because he has that potential.Dont u see that in itself an accolade?? and honor? I wont do that for Ganguly and other lesser batsmen.

THE REAL REASON FOR INDIA'S DEFEAT
by suresh on Aug 22, 2004 05:55 PM

If u really look at India's defeats over the last few months, u can find that they all came with India chasing(ie. batting second). This is not a recent phenomenon, it has been happening for a long time.(If someone can print the statistics, it'll be fine). This is not the case with India alone, it happens with many countries. But India has probably the highest percentage of losing while chasing. There are exceptions ofcourse, like the Natwest final. But they happen once in a blue moon. Basically the team think tank should plan how to chase and how to build patnerships( for this, scoring without taking risks is needed during the initial phase of the partnership, like running the ones and twos hard. While players from other countries convert ones into twos, we convert twos into ones , ones into no-runs and then try to make up by hitting in the air and getting out.).One of the players should bat throughout the innings and score a big hundred. (This is called RESPONSIBILITY and some one(like sachin or sovrav or dravid) should do it).If a chasing team wins a match, u'll find that one player would have played a BIG INNINGS and others rally around him. THIS IS WHAT WE LACK.I Expect comment

India lose to Pak
by Jay Gan on Aug 22, 2004 04:54 PM

Yes, losing is never fun but in the large scheme of things this game and even the Videocon Cup is not that important.

Pak played well but the outcome would have been different if India had batted first. Look fwd to them doing just that and Bajji roping in the Aussies.
