At Last they woke up
by Sriram Raghavan on Aug 05, 2004 07:55 PM

The selectors wwoke up to Zaheer's increasing inability to perform. What took them this long is anybody's guess. In 2004 Zaheer Khan's average has been a miserable 59.66 and he has played only 4 ODIs. His best bowling was in the Asia cup where he took 2/63.

The last 10 matches Zaheer has played for India, he has taken 11 wickets at an average of 45.36 and economy rate of 5.94. Most players with that kind of performance would have been dropped. Not Zaheer. He is the bowlwer's version of Dinesh Mongia. India somehow seem to be giving these non-performers chance after chance. And one wonders where the selection committee get their motivation from? Is it the country's or their personal interests?

Team selection for Holland tri series is rubbish!
Zaheer Khan who showed extraordinary qualities
as a batsman during Asia cup Final is dropped!
Have the selectors gone mad?Haven`t they watched
Asia cup Final?Or it is that Zaheer is not having
any grandfather, without which nothing moves in
India.

indian team selection
by zubin on Aug 05, 2004 07:34 PM

my indian team would be........

1)s ganguly

2)sachin

3)shewag

4)dravid

5)yuvraj

6)kaif

7)badani

8)agarkar

9)i pathan

10)balaji

11)nehra

12)kumble

13)harbhajan

14)gavaskar

15)s bangar.

we dnt need an extra keeper as ganguly will make

dravid keep wickets so better 2 take an extra

batsman or bowler or an allrounder...i hv not

included laxman as he also dsnt look fit though

he is a class batsman but 4 one days we need more

youngsters. once zaheer is fit he will surely be

in the team and parthiv is a good future prospect

though we hv a good younger keeper in dinesh

karthik.

i think our A team is doing a great job.we hv

very good players like salvi, bhandari, munaf patel,

gautam gambhir,sriram,sairaj b,r powar,also

dinesh mongia is playing well in english county.

indian cricket looks very bright.

Indian team!
by prashant on Aug 05, 2004 07:25 PM

Feel sorry for the guys dropped: Zaheer for poor form and Parthiv for lack opportunity. Hope they both bounce back into the squad quickly. Best of luck to the team and hope they have cleaned all the rustiness in the Indian ocean waters! :)

By-the-way, was this report written on the run?!

Team Selection

Selectors will be critized again....Captain will claim that he has the best balanced team ever (as usual), nothing would change - we will go with high hopes and collapse in all games in Amsterdam, reason we are still rusty to face stiff competition; and will suffer against England - claiming not able to adjust to weather conditions; falter in Champions trophy - claim, too many injuries, but that time, we can expect Aashish Nehra, Lakshman, and one or two more report injuries. Ganguly's batting woes continue against good teams, but will sparkle against minnows (like he did in Asia cup). It is high time, we had a different team for one-days and a different captain too.

Comment supporting.
by Gino Babu on Aug 05, 2004 06:54 PM

Well, I gonna support this decisio, becuase both were not in their form for the past few months. Instead of Kaif also they should make a change in the team. Why can't theytake Munaaf Patel for an experiment?
