Rajesh Raman
Krishna - and stuff
by Rajesh Raman on Jun 05, 2003 01:31 AM

You can't substantiate everything in an article. This is a news item. If you want to know more about whether Krishna is right or wrong, you either have to do your own research or wait for someone else to present their research on him.

Don't turn your (patriotism) blinders on. Just because he's for the Australian team doesn't mean he's wrong.

Mr. Krishna
by Wilson Fernando on Jun 05, 2003 01:24 AM

One is always intelligent in hindsight. After Following the whole world cup Mr.Krishna's attempt to discredit INDIA's journey to the Finals does not qualify as Good analysis. Moreover crediting Kenya and zimbabwe for Indias entry to the Finals is laughable. I will take it as another example of a professional working for the Australian team trying to be at his Professional Best.

But Mr. Krishna ..I respectfully disagree... on the analysis you provided on India's Journey to the Finals.

confronting your argument

I completely disagree with your analysis about india qualifying for the finals. In all the reasons that you give, not once, did you mention the effort of our players. We played against NZ,Pak,Eng,SriLanka and Aust amongst the major teams. We were able to defeat all, except one very convincingly. Is that an irony when you just don't mention any of those victories as OUR victory rather than their loss. Pakistan scored 273, NZ and Srilanka both were skittled out for a low score. So whats the point?. the inability of the opponents to provide a stiff competition should be the reason for the defeat, or that our bowlers bowled so well, that they succummbed to the pressure?. Its so immature to say that other teams were not able to provide a fight and so we won; where as Mr. Krishna, not even for once, mentioned the heroics of Yuvraj and Rahul Dravid against Pakistan, or Nehra's single handed attack against England, or Srinath's stupendous performance against SriLanka or Mohammad Kaif's batting against NZ. Its become a fashion these days to think out of the box and hence be different, where as all you have to do is think simple and the answer is right there.

An Indian who is an Aussie fan

There's no question of loyalty here pal....everyone has a right to his/her opinion!! So if I'm an Indian but wanna support the Aussies I very well can!! Also there's no question of patriotism with respect to sports. How many of the Indian players do u think r really patriotic??? We have freedom of sppech n expression in this country if needed we can cry out loud n proud tht we support the Aussies!! Also...it's so much better supporting them coz u get to see fantastic games of cricket!!!

It's always a great feeling to jump on a bandwagon. I'm sure all the current Aussie supporters were big time Windies supporters in the early 80's. Just like the Laker supporters in the US, who were Bulls supporters before and may be moving to either the Nets or the Spurs at the end of the NBA finals.

The beauty of following sports and supporting a team lies not only in winning but going through the agony defeat, being in the absolute bottom and then rising to etherial levels when your team wins after those losses. It was a terrible letdown when India lost the finals. I was depressed for weeks. The world had come to an end. But the joy of having watched them win 9/11 was unsurpassed. That is the beauty of sport for us mortal supporters, not the knowledge in the fact that the team we back now won the last World Cup. The Aussie TEAM is great, but I'll stick with my inconsistent Indians anyway.

Krishna makes a fool of himself !!!!!!
by Ranjeet Singh on Jun 05, 2003 12:32 AM

Because Krishna flunked the scorer's test held by the Mumbai Cricket Association, he makes a fool of himself by degrading the Indian teams performance at the world cup.

Typical Indian Cricket Buff
by Chaitanya on Jun 05, 2003 12:16 AM

Krishna is one of the millions of "cricket experts" residing in Mumbai. His views shouldn't be taken too seriously because even a local panwala has his views on cricket. Such couch potatoes shouldn't be entertained as it sets a wrong example. Space on your site should be dedicated only to achievements on the cricket field and not someone who idles his time making notes about a match. As for Kenya and Zimbabwe qualifying for the super six, it wasn't obligatory for any of the teams to pull out. Those who did suffered and they fully deserved it.
