Pretty smart (?)
by Naveen on Jun 04, 2003 08:58 PM

I found it very funny (actually ludicrous) the way Mr.Tunga rationalized India's win streak in the World cup.

Can India win without Sachin Tendulkar? First of all I don't see the reason to answer hypothetical questions. Moreover I thought there was much more of a team effort this time around. What about the seamers (exept finals), Yuvraj / Dravid while finishing chases. Sachin Tendulkar could'nt have won matches singlehandedly if he was in a unmotivated team, for instance the indian team 2 years ago.

Potential teams did'nt fire.. I thought that was what sports is about. It's not just talent on paper; Rising to the ocassion, grittiness are key factors to winning. Do you always put your money on the favorites, Mr.Tunga?

Batting pitches? Its' not like the pitch was rigged when the Indian team started batting. Also Fair / Unfair are such relative terms.. I could call NZ bowler-friendly pitches unfair 'cause it makes a mediocre bowling talent like Paul hitchcock excel.

NZ tour disaster not exposed enough.. Puh leez. Do u have any idea what u are talking about

U are right about the fact that Cricket is any more complicated than what it is. That's precisely why you should stop analyzing!

Opps statistics reveals about the past and anybody can say when results are out.

What nonsense

What the hell u r talking about World Cup Final. It was just one bad day for Indian Cricket that Ricky Pointing got all Guns and Fire there was noway TEAM performance is that clear. Any team including your Ausis cannot challege that mass of total.

So stop this nonsense and plz dont say anything about Indian Cricket do you understand whatever we play however we play we love our cricketers becz they repersent us and our culture not like your Assuis SLEDGING.......

Krsihna's statistics
by Abhishek on Jun 04, 2003 08:47 PM

It was nice to read his statistics, but as experts say there is no place for "ifs" and "buts". His statistics have something like that for instance some teams didn't play the way they should have...look at the football worldcup 2002 Krishna!! It is one day cricket, on that specific day teams that play well, win, period! I think India would have beaten Australia had Zaheer & Srinath bowled better on that day. They never bowled consistently. The cup could have been ours. Thanks.

What sort of an analysis is this
by Kanad Maitra on Jun 04, 2003 08:41 PM

Read the article - the points for India's final entry seemed foolish. My reply.

1) India is one of the top 5 one day teams. We fired and we went to the final. We can't play for the other teams to sell cricket.

2) How do you expose a wicket-keeper? Stand outside the crease and tempt him to stump or give him deliberate catches to test???How lovely would that have been!!!!!

3)How does Mr.Krishna explain that we got higher ranked teams like NewZealand or Sri Lanka for highre scores if pitches were just featherbeds???

4)How are you supposed to capitalise on the New Zealand memory other than make the pitches that way?

5)Well Mr.Krishna could'nt is the answer because other things were not just as good as Australia and India.

6)Yes Kenya and Zimbabwe went through on external issues but please look at the points table at the group stage we went through with 8 points making it almost through to semis. In the semis we would in all probabilities not have met Australia. Thus being the second best team on view in the tournament does not make us the favourite to reach the finals?????

I would love to know how the estemeed statistitician would like to react to my points

i think his observations are really neat, and i think indian team can use his help? I to agree with him, India did not deserve to be in the final.

krishna's opinion is as good as bangladesh's cricket
by ravi prakash on Jun 04, 2003 08:32 PM

hey mr.krishna it is a sorry state of affairs when you cannot recognise the talent of india.to say that india won all its matches because of lay is the view point of a pakistani layman.i regret your being an indian.also suggesting the worlds best batsman to keep wickets that too as a make-shift keeper is simply absurd and ridiculous.
