Both unreasonable

I think the govt. should not levy such a mammoth sum of tax on the car.
But on the flip side, is that really unaffordable to Sachin Tendulkar?

A Correct Decision
by Ramprasad on Aug 15, 2003 01:02 AM

Fiat has made the write decision to pay the duty on Sachin's Ferrari. Since it is a gift to Sachin there is no need for him to pay the duty. Sachin is a great player and he deserves the gift

Feels for Sachin
by Nadir Sheikh on Aug 15, 2003 01:02 AM

It is another shame on the government. Already they are "EATING" lots of taxes in the country. But still they wanted to have some from our legend. It was a simple thing, but the govn. has made it big issue. I think everybody will agree that what Sachin has done for the country, no one could have done in his field. He gives 200% every time and is a living legend. And if in response to that, he ask for a duty help on his Fiat, we should have allowed him as a Gift really. Why making an issue ? It was such a great moment when our legend met the legend of F1 Shumacher and the last one gave as a gift a Ferrari. It was a proud moment for all of us. The governemt should have not made that an issue really. This is my personal opinion.

Great Gesture!
by Vasisht on Aug 15, 2003 12:40 AM

This is a great gesture by the Italian carmaker, to save the embarassment for our cricket god,Sachin. What a pity that it needed a foriegn car company to come up with this generous offer!!Is it that our national companies are not rich enough to bear the expenses or that they did not think it necessary to do so!It is a shame on our industry and corporate world that they did not willingly come forward for such a logical step!!The whole unfortunate series of incidents could have been avoided if the persons and authorities concerned were a little circumspect in their actions.Bravo,Fiat for saving blushes to our national hero,Sachin!

It's shame !!!
by Dhananjay on Aug 14, 2003 11:54 PM

Politicians are doing scams of hundred & thousands crores.Court is not worried about money at that time....Ministers are making foreign trips with their relatives, wasting tax payers money.HC is not concenrned about it ... it is concerned about one person who deserves gift & serving India.

HC should keep an eye who are looting India not on who are serving this nation.
