Dear sachin and all concerned

It was really great that you recevied such a preciuos gift from a good know person in the world .This definately proves your fame and name not in INDIA but abroad also...congragulation for the same and all my wishes for your success in future for the same.

But ,it is sheer shame on your personal part that a man some hundred crores ask for a exemption from the Govt.of mear a crore, rather you should have payed the duty on your own or should have asked the gifting agency to pay for the same ,as seems you are not able to afford a crore. If a person like u ask for a exemption then what a common man should expect from the Govt.no tax, anyway pay the duty to Govt.and if possible do some more amount of charity for required people.
I do pray for your success, rather keep in mind u are not a man of controversies so do not mind ,do not divert your attention towards money,it is going to come to u any way, only concentrate on playing.
I would also bring all the concerned ppeople to the notice that ,act relevantly, can u all imagine sachin and others how many man hours u have spoiled for 1.13cr?not less than 100cr.
I wish this letter be given to sachin and media

Duty
by Sunil Sane on Aug 15, 2003 03:08 AM

Dear Sir,

This is smart move by Fiat. Riding on the publicity of the issue, they have picked up the right time to advertise their product. This will help boost the sales of the cars and tax money goes in the government treasury, Fiat will right it off as the expenses to get tax break. everybody is happy!!!!!!

Regards,

Sunil

Obey law
by Gopi on Aug 15, 2003 02:24 AM

I think everyone should obey the Law and Justice. It is not just a matter of few hundred rupees. Sachin should have paid the duty before the involvement of court, despite, he is a Maestro. It doesn't mean that a Cricket Maestro should not obey the law.
In India there are numerous cars which are imported by paying the duty. Does it mean that their owners are not citizens of India.

Give them a break yaar !!!!
by Sundeep on Aug 15, 2003 01:51 AM

I think it was quite fair on part of the govt. 2 give a duty waiver. Come on he is the best batsman in the world and am proud that he is an indian. I think we r insulting him by making a controversy out it. He did request 4 the duty waiver it was the govt who gave out the largesse. And hey its a ferrari which is going 2 grace our roads :-)) would only be glad 2 see one in india. Hamara indian roads danya ho gaya hai

GOOD JESTURE BY FIAT
by nitin bhalla on Aug 15, 2003 01:41 AM

I feel FIAT has made a very good and professional jesture by paying the duty.. this way now everyone will be happy.
But in the process i hope that this incident has not upset Sachin.. who must be feeling pretty let down after the response of the public about the issue.. He should'nt as the point made sense.. where is he going to keep all the money he is earning.. so better pay duties as a true Indian citizen..
