It's quite natural to call this film as unimpressive or boring because people like the "have popkorn and pass time" kind of cinema now-a-days. The real passion or sensitivity is almost missing in us. I'm not sure this film could be termed as a CLASSIC or not but surely it has made its mark in its own way in terms of visual excellence, tremendous performances and fabulous music.

an interesting screenplay and story is the soul of a movie.. visual excellence, tremendous performances and fabulous music are value adds, but cannot be a substitute for a good story and screenplay..
It is not right to generalize and say people like popkorn or pass time movies.. the proof is movies like Rajneethi or Rang de Basanti..
people always patronize a story that they can connect with.. not everyone can connect with non realistic characters and non realistic situations..

The best movie in 2010 is SCAM India - as this has so many sudden changes and also so many players and criminals .The advantage is even if you join a bit later does not matter new scam you can see - as each scam life cylce is less than 24 hours . All are live chaarectors and there were no story writes and the stroy is unreaveled . The cost of producing this is few billion crore .Mers Bharat Ma----
These so called great actors are calling it an “awesome movie and it is a genius work of SLB”, in reality they are just promoting this. Any sensible common man can say it s crap and most boring movie which neither has any message to the mass nor leaves any long term impression if you come out of it. If you say these things out of your common sense, you are made a fool. You must forget your integrity and say “it is a very good movie” because it is a SLB movie and there is a so called great and pretty actress Mrs.Rai Bachhan who has never given any hit till now on her own. Even if the movie has very little sense in it, it is just because of Hrithik, nothing else…

true & now taran adarsh has this funda of comparing it with classics & starting a debate.. In reality its a rubbish movie
I watched Guzarish yesterday and I am disappointed.I have seen SLB's earlier works and I will still put BLACK at a higher place. The film is ok and poignant but overall it's like Bhansali held himself back from unleashing a flurry of emotions.May be he wanted to keep it subtle but he miscalculated and though we see a lot of potential emotionally powerful scenes the impact is lesser because of a superficial treatment of a highly emotional theme. Before we jump to the conclusion of it being a great classic we need to understand that just by taking a great plot and having powerful performances doesn't make a classic.Treatment of this theme left a lot to be desired.
