Hum Log was a good/descent drama, but nothing compared to "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi"

Yes, Ravi Shastri's show actually rasied his status in our eyes, from some negativity he got with his fling with Amrita Singh and his no-runs-but-stick-around-on-pitch strategy.

TV is foolish that they they are wasting time ( everyone's) bymaking new serials again and again. Just like TVLand , there should be a channel in India that should air some of the old good shows based on demand and reviews.

I also remember some good non-fiction serials like "India Quiz" by Siddhattha Basu and " The world this week" By Prannoy Roy.

I remember the India Quiz. Loved it very much, even though my poor english made it tough to understand the questions. I made up my mind then that I would do well in verbals do be able to understand and answer Basu's questions..

World This Week also brought the music of Loy Mendonsa popular for the first time. That tabla beat was awesome. Coincidentally Nandy's Illustrated Weekly was also around, so we could always cross checks news, and I was still in my early teens then.

Hum Log, and the good old days
by Haramohan Roy on Jul 11, 2009 10:05 PM  | Hide replies

1974 - I was pleasantly surprised when I first saw anything on TV - that time it was the test match between India and the West Indies

1983 - Most people of our generation would remember this year as the year when India became the World Champion in One Day Cricket - at Lord's

1984 - The start of the historic serial - "Hum Log". In those days, TV serials were realistic and fascinating, not the types of Ekta Kapoor things!! We could identify ourselves with the characters of this serial! Moreover, in those days there were only one or two daily soaps - not like these days, when we have dozens of daily soaps - most of which are unwatchable!!

Congrats to those who recall "Hum Log"!!
