Petrol: The most expensive and cheapest nations
by D Subbarao on Apr 12, 2011 05:31 PM  | Hide replies

The stocks of petrol will not lost long. Let us invent the vehicles run other than petrol/diesel and preserve the petrol and gas at least to some extent. Battery/hydro/solar are the alternates for petrol cars/vehicles.
Let R&D Department of GOI design such vehicles on war footing to easen the burden of petrol.

Brilliant idea! Why not invent a bio-gas driven car, tell the population to eat plenty of "mooli". The gas produced by eating mooli can be used to propell the cars!! Totally environment friendly!! What a brilliant idea sirji!!!

by dharmendra jadoun on Apr 12, 2011 05:15 PM

There is no guaranty that you get complete petrol what you pay for may be 10 to 30 % less then what meter is showing.

Also i found many people facing water mixed up with petrol in Delhi. I have seen many people getting there bike petrol tank clean to get rid of water in petrol.

Thing is East or West India & Indian are Best (?).

by dharmendra jadoun on Apr 12, 2011 05:10 PM

After considering purchase power India is most costly ?

UK , US , Sweden, Denmark Rs 100 and Rs 43 are tiny ammounts like Rs 2 or Rs 3 in India.

You can't compare the cost of petrol by just converting it into Rs/Litre. You have to consider Purchase Power Parity.

People in Britain earn in pounds and also spend in pounds. Like wis e in USA they earn and spend in dollars. Hence if we see people in Uk spend roughly 1.2 pounds. when will it cost 1.2 rs in India.

Stupid
by Vivek on Apr 12, 2011 04:46 PM

The article is really stupid, does not take into account purchasing power. Some one in UK getting GBP 1000 and someone getting Rs 75k in India are not the same, the latter will have much better lifestyle. Rediff should stop publishing stupid articles.

Some one should explain these ra$cals the meaning of Purchasing Price Parity (PPP) when putting up an article like this.

I am sure these morons will say PPP stands for pakistan peoples party and how that matters for price of petrol.

Yes, I totally agree.

eg. Per capita income of Sweden is $36,502 and that of India is $1,176. So the fact is 100 Rs. in India is like 3 rupees for them. So the petrol price in Sweden is 3 Rs. / Liter effectively.
