Standard Comparision
by Mohan Rao on Apr 12, 2011 11:34 AM  | Hide replies

I have seen so many posts here who are not obliging any of the standard conversions. OK. I will give you a standard comparision.
The daily labour rate (Non-technical and non expertise) is 5.93 GBP in UK. So, if you work for 8 Hrs in a day your earnings per day = 47 GBP. If you work for 22 days in a month, then your earnings are 1,033 GBP. With this income, the latest Tax is (7650 Tax free per annum and 30% tax NI thereafter) 1200 GBP Per annum. So whats NET income of an average Britisher??Its around 9,000 GBP. That means a NET disposal income of 750 GBP per month per person. That means an average person in UK can buy around 800 litres of Petrol with in UK PER MONTH. NOW COMPARE THESE FIGURES WITH AN AVERAGE NON_TECHNICAL DAILY RATE OF AN INDIAN OR ANY OTHER THIRD WORLD COUNTRY EARNINGS.

You are right.

But this News needs to be seen is a slightly different way. This post is meant to tell Indians that the cost of Petrol is higher than India even in European countries. This is a clear indication of the Govt increasing the prices. This will surely happen once the Assembly elections are over. The News itself is just a foundation for what is to come from the Govt.

Your comparision is perfect. But just to simplify - a bottle of water or pepsi also costs 2 pounds - higher vs. petrol price . In India a bottle of water/ pepsi costs 10 -12/- ., while the petrol sells six times higher at max of Rs.65/L

How the Govt & Tax system cheats Indians .
by jaggu on Apr 12, 2011 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

If we want to survive in free competition our inputs must be as cheap as those of competition.

In USA a Corolla costs 7 lacs ,car loan interest is 2-3% petrol costs 45 .

So an honest Taxi operator in India is cheated into buying such car at Rs. 13 lacs , on a loan of 16% interest and petrol at Rs. 64/ltr.

No wonder we have no standard of living after slogging for 5000 years to build a great civilization.

Fuel prices
by arun govil on Apr 12, 2011 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

Your comparisions are not valid. as all prices are in dollar terms, conversion of prices in INR are wrong. A better system is to link prices to per capita income in either dollers or INR to give a truer comparision

Petroleum is available in world market at $ hence the comparison is in dollar price. Hope you will accept it now :)

PER CAPITA INCOME
by Jay on Apr 12, 2011 10:37 AM

Comparing Petrol prices is fine ... but at the same time, if we compare the per capita income of these countries , countries in Europe enjoys a much much higher per capita income hence they can pay more ... but for countries like India, Pakistan and others in this categories, the income of the people is not great hence petrol is a costly affair in here!

Isnt it massive global level of cheating considering that the standard of govt support & social secuity is so meager in India vs. UK?
