bring back kaif
by farhan sekason on Sep 19, 2007 12:59 AM  | Hide replies

Since India rated as the worst fielding teams in the world, they should really think for a recall of kaif.
given him a chance. his fans would be sure tht he would prove his worth in the team.
his inclusion in the team means tht a boost in the fielding which will easily help them to cut down at least 20 to 30 runs in every match

True. Kaif was a handy man when India was in trouble, a man the team coul rely on. As for fielding Kaif and Yuvy make a gr8 team and can help save at least 20-40 runs in a game.Agarakar shud be thrown out!

kaif should be recalled and if you think agarkar is not a performer you are wrong since it was our good for nothing cricket board who made mess of all the players with rich caliber and talent like agarkar if you can say about kaif what about Dhoni our new ODi captain who has played one or two match winning innings and has made mess of all the good oppurtunities he got

Agarkar is the talented cricketer whose talent is destroyed by selectors, he never got full chance, he played a series and next series he is no part ofteam. He is the fastest 100 wicket taker and he amonst very few who have scored a century on Lords.

I think it is pathetic to tell agarkar had rich caliber . No doubt he started with a bang , but then . He is probably most inconsistent player anyone could have ever seen with the years of experience in his belt. Its quite strange how he makes quick comebacks after getting dropped , but players like Zaheer , Sourav and Harbajan are made to fight for it. Kaif has a long way to go before even trying to enter into team with just fielding abilities. I guess, Dhoni is good player as he has matured to play a waiting game now a days for the sake of team .

Mr.Vijesh, Have you ever seen the matches in your life. Please compare yourself the average of dhoni in last 20 matches vs average of kaif in his last 20 matches. How can you even recommend kaif unless you are blind. More over Dhoni primary job is to keep wickets where as Kaif primary job is to score runs.

Dhoni averages 41.85 in his last 20 matches
Kaif averages 19.31 in his last 20 matches.

Do you know how big difference it is.

Selecting Selectors
by Nandakumar TanjoreRajendran on Sep 19, 2007 12:59 AM  | Hide replies

Our current Indian team selectors are Dilip Vengsarkar. Bhupinder Singh Sr., Sanjay Jagdale, Ranjib Biswal and Venkatapathy Raju

Other than Vengsarkar and Raju. Does anyone know who all this 3 guys are. Have they played any International cricket

Bhupinder Singh Sr - PLayed only 2 ODI's and scored 6 runs and took 3 wickets
Sanjay Jagdale - son of former Indian national team selector Madhavsinh Jagdale
Ranjib Biswal - son of the Orissa politician - Basant Kumar Biswal.

How can we have such idiots as selectors.

Its like a 10th grade failed person teaching Post graduate students. Will anyone pass?

Selecting Dinesh Karthick for ODI's
by Nandakumar TanjoreRajendran on Sep 19, 2007 12:58 AM  | Hide replies

Selecting Dinesh Karthick as a pure batsman for ODI cricket is plain stupid. He has scored only 2 fifties in 25 ODI matches he has played so far. Do not talk about his wicket keeping abilities as he never keeps the wickets. His ODI average is 23.57. Which is little more than what you expect from a tailender. not from a pure batsman.

Will accept Tendulkar or dravid or ganguly as a batsman if they score only 2 fifty from 25 matches. Will you accept the BIG 3 to have only 23.57 average in 25 matches and still get selected.

How does age matters when we are playing for performance. This is not under 19 team. Its Indian cricket team where talent matters irrespective of the age.

Even during his worst form. Tendulkar never had an average of 30 in his whole career.Tendulkar in his whole career was never had only 2 fifties in any of his 25 consecutive matches.]

If you are selecting a person has a pure batsman. then see his credits as a batsman.

Will you select a software engineer to work in a company who is best as a doctor. or will you select a doctor to work in the hospital who is best as a software engineer

Karthik has played only 25 matches. Most importantly he scored in difficult pitches. Remember hes got the man of match award in nagpur(correct me if iam wrong) when everyone was struggling.

the point is that, he has got right attitude to succeed. He has got wide range of shots. He can be successful in difficult pitches in australia. Just think about rahul dravid, whenhe began his oneday career. He was pathetic. Inspite of that he has got somany chances. Same thing is happening here.

And another thing is, hes trying hard to find a place in playing XI. He can be self-destructive to himself by thinking that hes just a backup keeper. But hes creating chances for himself and we've to encourage that.

Compare players like kaif and raina. Kaif has given somany chances although he has performed in very few oneday matches. samething about raina. Compared to them, he is giving justice to his team selection. Giving 100% all the time. thats what needed not egoistic persons.

Stupid Vijesh, Understand the game first, Kaifs and Rainas 100% is equivalent to Tendulkar and dravids 50%. So dont give me this percentage.

At the end of the day all it matters is how much a batsman is able to score.
I can give 200% does it mean i will be better than Tendulkar. Use your brain.

Groom this batmans Badrinath/Rohitsharma/Tiwari in the place of old people not at the expense of an 22 year old. Karthik is just 22. For the coming world cup, noone knows whether ganguly/dravid/tendulkar will play. Have to build a team slowly.

Dont sure about Badrinath and Tiwari. Rohit sharma will definitely get his chance since he is from mumbai.

Mr.Klc, please use your brain next time when you talk.

Tendulkar averages 50.41 in his last 20 matches
Dravid Averages 40.07 in his last 20 matches
Ganguly averages 49.70 in his last 20 matches
Yuvraj averages 43.56 in his last 20 matches

Karthick Averages 27.09 in his last 20 matches

Now tell me you want to exclude the top 3 averages and want to form a worst of Indian team with all 18 yr olds or do you want to exclude Karthick who averages much lesser than all other batsman and have a best of best team.

Do you need worst or best.

We are not playing cricket only for World cup matches. So we can not think of world cup matches alone and prepare team all the time.

Australians are Number one in the world when it comes to cricket.Ricky Ponting is 32 years,Gilchirst is 35 years,Hayden is 35 yrs,Hogg is 36 yrs,Symonds is 32 yrs, Hussey is 32 yrs,Hodge is 32 yrs,Clark 32 yrs. Do you think they will play in next world cup.

Why do you think australian team have all those players?.

Australia is not dump like you to see players of age and not of performance.

Grow up or QUit

OK. Do not compare Indian with Australians. But cant you look at our own Indian batsman average with our own Young Indian batsman average(Dinesh Karthick) and know the difference.

If one does not have fitness like the way you have mentioned then he cant have the averages or 50,49 and 40.

I never said karthick should be out of Team test. Please do not mix things up here. Karthick is not fit for ODI. thats my argument. Not about tests.

Do not compare Dravid/sachin or ganguly with youngsters. Check by yourself atleast 100 youngsters were tried in Indian cricket team from 1990. How many stayed other than the 3.

In International cricket, we cant wait for one to become good. We need to play with good not the future good.

If you think Dravid/sachin and ganguly will one day retire. so does karthick will retire one day. Does it mean we have to add 2 or 3 yr olds to the indian team now only

If you start comparing indians with australians, you are in no way. Australian fitness levels and Indians are completely different. The great Mcgrath has played even upto 38. Our quickest bowler srinath has retired at 33. Compare with logic.

I'm not questioning their averages. In the last series against england, tendulkar has clearly struggled for fitness. we dont really know when this seniors will be break down. If they retired together, think about indian middle order.

Since you're quoting recent averages, I'm giving this. In the last england test series, karthik is the highest rungetter. check for your records. Its true that he has failed in one oneday series. that doesnt mean that he shouldbe dropped.

People have told the same about rahul dravid when he started his oneday career i.e. he s not fit for onedayers. he has proved wrong and he even captained india.Karthik has the capability and got wide range of shots . I'm sure that he will succeed.

If you follow Indian cricket, you dont stick to your points.

Have you ever watched the complete oneday series between india and south africa? Every batsman have struggled including tendulkar. Eventhough Karthik didnt score runs much in that oneday series, he played beautifully earning all commentators praise. Thats the main reason, he has given the chance in south africa test series.

I'm repeating again. in the past, Guys like you have told the same about rahul draivd.i.e. hes not fit for onedayers. in his first 20 matches, dravid didnt have great record. averaging less than 30. Guys like you are totally impatient and dont understand the technique involved in cricket.

again last but not least, there is no need for me to convince you. its for everyone to see.

How to make India a winning team
by Nandakumar TanjoreRajendran on Sep 19, 2007 12:27 AM

I need to change the whole things to make our Indian cricket a winning team.
1.Talent Identifying process
2.Training Process
3.Selection Process
4.Selectors Identifying Process
5.Infrastructure.
6.People Mentality
7.Media Hype.

1.Talent Identifying Process: Unless we can identify proper person and give training to high to play in the highlest level of the game, its of no use. We need to Identify the right person

2.Training Process: Process training has to be given to get the best out of each.

3.Selection Process: Even if we have 6 Don Bradman and 5 Ambrose, its of no use unless we selection the right person.

4.Selection Identifying Process: Even to teach a graduate we need post graduate people. Where as we have people has selectors who have hardly played any international or first class match. Minimum 30 Tests to be a selector is a must.

5.Infrastructure: To win against all conditions, we need practise in all conditions. To do so we need to have some fast pitches, some slow turns, some bounch pitches, some spin pitches.

6.People Mentality: Its one of the most important factor.People have no idea what to expect from cricketers. Cricket fans need a mentality to find best performing people. Not the young or senior cricketers.

7.Media Hype: Even for a presidential election, we dont have such debate the way we have for selecting cricketers and selecting Captain.

Unless we have all this, we can expect to win.

These are performances of our fast bowlers in thier last 20 ODIs, then RP Singh should be dropped first, there is no much difference between zaheer and agarkar, infact agarkar took 4 wickets more than zaheer. I have got these stats from cricinfo.com

Agarkar            20 28 4/60 34.03
Zaheer            20 24 5/42 32.62
sreesanth      20 28 6/55 30.14
RP Singh      20 19 3/55 39.84

Stat are misleading most of the times.
It does not reflect, how Agarkar got the wickets. Most of the times, he got the wickets in slog overs, when batsmen , after hitting two boundaries in over, go for the third one and caught at deep mid wicket.
It does not reflect, how good/bad he bowled at the crunch situation.Specially, that he failed miserably always when he was expected to do something.
