Premature Statement
by bharat on Sep 19, 2007 08:12 AM  | Hide replies

Vengsarkar commented that Dhoni is a good captain! How the hell does he know if Dhoni is a good or a bad captain when he has not captained India in a single ODI?

I think u people dont have cricketing sense, if u r the one who is going to select the Captain or the Team then go ahead and do the needful with grace, Mr. Dhoni has brains hopefully he do well, u people must b behind the young man but it seems u all r just the ones who find false in others. U will never do justice to urself my friend. HOPE INDIA DOES WELL UNDER THE NEW CAPTAIN, BEST OF LUCK

Two Prime targets are out
by bharat on Sep 19, 2007 07:20 AM  | Hide replies

Rediff forumers will miss two prime targets very soon. Rahul Dravid is has already quit captaincy and Ajit Agarkar will be out of the scene after the 20-20 WC. A great loss for rediff forumers who will now have to search new targets for bashing!!!

Both were legitimate targets. One a bowler with tons of runs under his sleeve, and the other apathetic captain and under pressure batman(he averaged 21 and 25 in the SAfrica and England series).
If India lose, Dhoni will vacate the hot seat for Yuvraj.

When Dravid opted to resign then Vengasarkar said they are finalising a new Captain. How come he said this without knowing the readson for Dravids intention why he is quitting as captain. There is some gadubidi between Veng and Dravid

Agarkar will be back...
by Kumar Saxena on Sep 19, 2007 04:05 AM  | Hide replies

The selectors have saved the disgraceful Agarkar from any embarrasement in the upcoming TOUGH Australian series. Remember he was called Bombay Duck because of so many ZERO scores in the previous outing in Australia.

He will be back to do some amazing records against petty teams like Scotland, Kenya, etc.

This is all part and parcel of politics.

i know guys dont like agarkar and whatever you all say is true that agarkar is not consistent....can u tell me which indian bowler is consistent enough to be in the indian team...sresanth ,r.p singh or zaheer.which spinner is consistent or for that matter is their a proper spinner we have...agarkar whenever he has performed is left out in the next series inspite of being in form then how can you expect him to be consistent when he is not selected consistently..how many chances were given to sehwag, pathan, harbhajan ,kaif to come in form....iam sure less than agarkar..and i dont blame anybody here bcoz to paly for the indian team is a big thing no one gets there just like that...a good player is turned into bad player by either the coach ,management, captain or politics...players do whatever they can...there was time when only karnatak players were playing in team..but mumbai players were not given any chance....and they re getting chance then what is ur problem

Don't include Powar. If he tries drowning whole water in the Arabian sea will be displaced, and there would be flooding in Bombay.

MS Dhoni is being set up nicely!!
by Spitting Cobra on Sep 19, 2007 03:54 AM  | Hide replies

Are the canny Indian selectors setting up Dhoni by making him the captain??
If he fails with the bat, his keeping is not good enough to merit a place in the team!!
Are there vested interests that want to push him out and make Dinesh Karthick the keeper in the long run??

There is no other plausible explanation for bypassing Yuvraj and handing ovet the captaincy on a platter to Dhoni!!
Yuvraj made his debut in 2000 and MSD made his in 2005!!
This seems highly bizarre to me!! If you don't want one of the old brigade to captain the ODI side, you coulds atleast have gone with Yuvi or Sehwag or Harbhajan!!
This might be the beginning of the end for Dhoni!!
Cos if the intentions of the selectors were really noble, they would not have had Karthick in the team, snapping at the heels of Dhoni!!
Anyday, you would want to go with an extra batsman like Rohit Sharma or Raina or even go with an allrounder like Yousuf Pathan or Joginder Sharma!!
The selection of Karthick furtehr reinforces my thinking process that MSD is being set up nicely!!
The day is not far off when he will be branded as a pure 20-20 cricketer!! With Karthick donning the gloves in Tests and Uthappa in ODIs!!

but these mumbaikars are keeping their B grade players around over players from other region with a lot of potential.
What the hell has fat pudgy Powar done for the team lately. His spot should have gone to Irfan or Sehwag. Both have tremendous potential and need a few matches to spring back.

Idiot first know who all have been selection, before opening your stinking mouth.

Irfan is already there in the team.

What the hell did sehwag do to get his place back in the international team.

Agarkar is out of the team.

So its only 2 mumbaikar in the team now
One is sachin and other is Ramesh powar.Sachin is purely on merit. he will make it to any team in the world.
Ramesh powar is in the team for his bowling.Out of 6 matches he played in England he was the most economic bowler in 4 matches. What else merit you need to be in the team idiot.

Get out of your religional bias.

Sehwag is kicked out, current performance will be off records

Dhoni has already slowed down (why?), rewarded with captaincy

Raina declared inadequate

Jaffar and Laxman in good books

Persisting with Ganguly

Above are powerful ingredients for slow run rate. This is very confusing
