Look at the U.S.A/Israel. These states genuinely care for their citizens, and are taking steps to protect them (by acting agaist terror). Every one citizen is valued by these countries. The same cannot be said of India.
There are two ways of fighting terrorism: Either fight or get used to it. Unfortunately, India has adopted the second one. People of this country have become used to of such attacks.
The author is naive in thinking that the American response curbed terrorism. America never faced much terrorism in the past. There was no major terror attack after the first world trade center bombing.
The war the America started is fostering enemies for the US across the globe and has not solved anything.

This is handi-work of some Islamic organization, but you should also remember is these very same organizations were funded by US themself in there longer term persuit to check the growth of India/China/Russia.
US is the biggest arm supplier in the world, they supply arms openly to countries and secretly to the armed organization to create such kind of attack. Pakistan\'s ruler are the most foolish as we all know, they have always fallen for false promises from the West. The best way to combat terrorism is to bring the perpetrators to justice (instead of collectively punishing an entire nation) and try to understand the reasons for the violence (violence doesn't happen in a vacuum). Branding terrorists as being inhuman monsters is dealing with the issue at a childish level. If you simply fight terror with terror (for example, the Gujarat pogrom), all you've succeeded in doing is creating an escalating cycle of violence (as is clear from the number of terrorists attacks in Mumbai). No one is condoning killing of innocent civilians which unfortunately is occurring on both sides. The author claims that the "peace process" is failing ? Do we know what each side is asking for ? Is there a sincere effort to get to root cause of the animosity ?
What exactly are the alternatives ? Dropping nuclear weapons on each other ? If the author believes that the solution is violence against violence, then we live in very sad times indeed.
I think the author of this article is mistaken about how the US approach has decreased terrorism. The US has invaded Afghanistan and Iraq and killed huge numbers of Innocent civilians. The logic being apparently (in Bush\'s words himself) 'We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbour them.'
Lets assume that there is no hypocrisy involved and Bush actually means what he is saying here. If you do some basic research, you would quickly realize that the US is harboring terrorists in Florida right now. Jose Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch killed 73 people when they bombed a Cuban airliner in the 1970\'s. One of them has been freed in the US and the other is being held by immigration authorities, while the US has refused to extradite him to Venezuela with whom they have an extradition treaty. So if you apply, Bush\'s logic, then the US should invade Florida and kill innocent citizens of the United States (just as they invaded Afghanistan). And this is just the tip of the iceberg. The US supports murderous regimes all over the globe. None of this has decreased the chances of terrorist attacks.

ANyways jokes apart ; I believe we will see some extreme statements made by few readers and a few sane ones giving advices about lack of Intelligence and Security in our country. Well let me say this;No matter what steps you take to secure a person , a state there will always be a loophole somewhere or the other that these destructive forces will find out.
