Comments on Enough is Enough -- Part Two
by Vox Pop on Jul 13, 2006 12:53 AM

The CIA has itself released reports saying that the US invasion of Iraq has increased the chances of a terrorist attack (go ahead, research this)

The best way to combat terrorism is to bring the perpetrators to justice (instead of collectively punishing an entire nation) and try to understand the reasons for the violence (violence doesn't happen in a vacuum). Branding terrorists as being inhuman monsters is dealing with the issue at a childish level. If you simply fight terror with terror (for example, the Gujarat pogrom), all you've succeeded in doing is creating an escalating cycle of violence (as is clear from the number of terrorists attacks in Mumbai). No one is condoning killing of innocent civilians which unfortunately is occurring on both sides. The author claims that the "peace process" is failing ? Do we know what each side is asking for ? Is there a sincere effort to get to root cause of the animosity ?

What exactly are the alternatives ? Dropping nuclear weapons on each other ? If the author believes that the solution is violence against violence, then we live in very sad times indeed.
