ICC
by J Mukherjee on Jun 13, 2006 03:18 PM  Permalink

The Lord's of Cricket may not be able to stand the meteoric rise of Cricket in the sub-continent and its economic impact. The Indians are an envied lot, they are rich, they can bring in the crowd, they can increase the revenue and without them, the game will loose the charm. So it is more than natural to see Indian players being penalized for every single infringement. Punishment is the only power that is still resting with the Lords. However, it is sad to hear about Dave Richardson's comments. Anyway, so be it, he was a respected figure amoung the Indian criketing community, and he lost it, following the path of his predecessor Clive Lloyd.

Is the match refree against India
by gowri shanker on Jun 13, 2006 03:12 PM  Permalink

Pls every human has little area of bias and this is what is reflecting when the whole incident is looked at.Sehwag cannot be Lara,India cannot be West indies.Historically WI cricket board is known to toe the Native English speaking countries line, hence this bias is just a little concessions. So dont mind we need to take it in our strides.

by Dr.K.Rajasekaran on Jun 13, 2006 03:12 PM  Permalink

Yeah .The match referee cannot interpret rules according to his own whims. There has to be a forum to appeal against the match referees.

We all know Lara is a great star but the judgent shuld be equal, hence for showing indecent behaviour the captain of WI should have been punished.Creicket is gentleman's game, which should be upheld.

Is the Match Refree against India?
by K. Jayaraman on Jun 13, 2006 03:12 PM  Permalink

Jeff Crowe, the Council of Umpiring Committee, even the ICC are always against Asia. This is not new to us and the step motherly treatment to Asians by the Western Countries. Remember, what happened to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India in the past. In South Africa happened for the Indians and now all the actions against the Indians in Windies. The Pakistanis and Sri Lankansare also sailing in the same boat. Treatment is different for Asians and the rest. One thing we, the Asian can do is stay away from the ICC and conduct our own tests and one-dayers between the Asian Teams and set up a new body naming ACC, Asian Cricket Council. we all know without India and Pakistan, the ICC will not run their competitions with colour and then only they can give due respect to the Asian Teams. Teach a lesson to ICC.Can we do that?

Or other wise we are shouting about the treament meated out on us and no remedy for this.

Match Referee against India
by Bruno on Jun 13, 2006 03:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Regarding Sehwag and Collins the answer is simple. The match referee knows that Indian cricketers are over-paid so giving a 20 % fine is no big deal for them. West Indies do not get paid so much hence ...

Regarding Lara's incident, there is no better behaved cricketer then lara in cricket today. I know him for his honesty. I have seen walk off before the umpire has raised his finger which no Indian player does.

Let me also say something. We talk about ours being the best batting line up in the world, but we have not won test series outside sub-continent since 1986. Even if we win against West Indies this time, it amounts to nothing as they were trashed by everyone for the last 6-7 years in test and one days. The reason is that the talented guys migrate to USA and play basketball and other sports there. So lets not cry as we are famous for crying everytime in cricket. Instead of that lets cry as to why we cannot win medals in the Olympics or Asian Games.

RE:Match Referee against India

Hi Bruno
the conversation is not reg winning the series outside India. its totally reg wether the referee's are biased or not.ur saying Lara is well behaved. can u point out any player shown discent to the umpires or the refere's. in this case having somuch experience, he should have done that. And let me recall on issue about, when the lost a match to Kenya i think so in 1996 world cup, the same well behaved hell of a man said we have lost to our younger brothers, when voices were raised against the comment. then the told he not said like that. this is the example of well behaved man. ICC had be pratial, they should take action againt Dave Richard also for his comment on this and he dare to say no Indian umpire had been standard. what abt Steve buckonor nowdays he gives 50% of wrong decisions, why he was not pulled out atleast for a couple of years

Where's the sportsman spirit?
by Rakesh on Jun 13, 2006 03:06 PM  Permalink

As said by Match Referee Jeff Crowe "each case has a slightly different set of circumstances" and they must take it as a case to case basis. There's no point in nagging and making much ado about nothing.

This reminds me of the attitude of English commentators in radio and tv during England play, let it be Tennis, Cricket, Football or the Olympics. They turn a blind eye when the decisions go in Englands favour and nag and criticise every decision made against English players. So unsportsmanlike and bloody partial.......

Brian Lara's Behavior in 1st Test match
by R.Ramesh on Jun 13, 2006 03:02 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

I believe Brian Lara's case was handled partially, Being a Senior International Cricketer, he cannot behave so rudely with Umpires by disclosing his Frustration. I feel a seasoned player will have lot of patience, but by this incident he seems to be immatured.

Coming to ICC counsils remarks on Brian Lara and V.Sehwag's fine,This clearly shows that ICC is trying to demoralise Indian Cricketers.
