Please explain! any federation politics does not explain lack of courage, hunger and will to win, which was there for all to see.

In the first place the team was not even sure of entry into the qualification tournament. FIH had threatened to cancel the qualifiers itself. There are two warring fhockey federations in India with poloticians clinging since last 20 -30 years in their respective posts of hockey federation. It is a miracle the team qualified. Kick the federation bosses.
The reality is that India is no good in any sports. We are even worse of in team sports. Individual sports we have atleast won medals on and off. This shows that in Team sports, Indians Ego clashes are the main reasons why India is not excelling in sports.

No this is not only about ego clashes. Its about creating a sporting base large enouhg to pick from in the country and a sporting culture. Holland with a polulation of about 5 million (less than half of Delhi) alone has around 400 astro turfs. By that number India should have about 80,000 turfs. Forget that, atleast ensure there is one astro turf in every C town. About 20 in every B city and 50 in evey metro, then start talking. Its also about what a society values.

That is the tragedy. Indians and its media can't think beyond cricket, and even there we do not have complete domination, as was evident from the humiliation we had to suffer in the Australia and England test series. So much for Tendulkar!

Team is young and inexperienced? whats the problem with that? The main problem is the hockey federation bosses who have been holding the place for last 20 years and have done absolutely nothing to improve Hockey in India
