Belgium defeated korea and held kiwis to draw...they have good chance of finishing at 3rd place if they win today....it is highly unlikely that they will leave anything for indian team

When allthe labours ofvery diligent Coach Mr nobbscome to aserial set of4defeats in thecurrent Hockey pool ,inda has most certainly shown thatthedays ofindia'shockey , of present are going to be dreary.
Let us accept the presentReality. We ought to planout on indian lineso fhockey of swift dribbling and short passes instead of robust hits andtackling thatourAsaian players cannot ,obviously match, Let us appoint an old hand someone from yore to revive Hockey's old skills. D. Goel

There was some good performance during the Azlan Shah and that gave rise to hopes.Like our cricket Test team, the highs and lows are very sharp and no one can predict the performance.

Why go to the Olympics at all? Why not try and do well in INtl tournaments for ten years at least before showing up at the Olympics ?

still believe they can dribble past all opposition:they stubbornly refused to release the ball throughout.Their fitness level was higher than past teams.

NO SHORT CUTS
by chatter on Aug 07, 2012 08:31 AM  | Hide replies

Winning at the highest level in any sport is a long process. It is not as though the whole world is waiting at the Olympics to hand over gold medals to any Indian who competes.

For two whole generations we had neglected sport. Till the turn of the century, other than in hockey, we had hardly won anything at the Olympics. At least now our sportsmen are competing rather than just participating. It will take at least another 10 years of continued effort before we once more start getting results even close to what the Chinese and the Americans are achieving.

Why is the media creating such a fuss? Given the shabby and dirty treatment given to the game and its players in India, how do you expect them to be world beaters? In contrast you give so much importance to Cricket which is played only by 8 or 9 countries. And here too, we excel only in the dead Indian pitches and for this, the Cricketers are treated like Gods and of course lots and lots of easy money

Olympics and India
by india voice on Aug 07, 2012 08:07 AM  | Hide replies

India always lags behing in olympics and even getting 2-3 medals look like a big deal and we have no one to blame for our poor performance and our govt and politics is making it worse we need something what china did and what USA does to train the players and provide them with all the facilties and that shows in the medals they get and they excel in all sports. India needs to learn or practice what USA does to excel in sports and if we follow what they do we can produce the best sportsman as well.

spoken like a true blue mallu...funny how so many of your fellowmen are so militant against cricket online, also militate against anything...but surprisingly don't seem to have a significant prescence in the military...hmmm...
