No regrets, Leander!
You've given your best - as best as it could get under the circumstances - for the sixth Olympic games in a row, and tat should make you and the country proud.

if any player in other country had done what mahesh and bopanna did, they would have fired them. both of them are culprits who deprived india of a certain medal

leander and vishnu
by GANESH KALYANSUNDARAM on Aug 02, 2012 06:14 PM  | Hide replies

This is nothing but a diplomatic game being played by Leander to make vishnu tell what he wants. What does he mean by saying vishnu has been his best partner, he is conveniently forgetting that he won many titles with Mahesh and it was not his lone contribution. He is now doing this so that the blame will go to Mahesh and Boppana. Moreover the press is playing a game stating that Leander and vishnu fought hard and vice versa for Mahesh and partner. well kudos to leander for not only being a sportsman but also a shrewd politician. with his father's backing may we will see him in bengal politics

Mr Ganesh , dont put your rotten curry masala into Leanders words. He didnt say Vardhan IS the best partner he had played with. Leander said Vardhan is up amongst his best partners, that includes likes of Bhupathi and Stepanek. Please dont blabber without reading the true facts. There is a difference between ONE OF THE BEST and THE BEST. Go back to school and learn the basics before opening your mouthful of nonsense.

SUBROTO RAY
Vishnu Vardhan
by SUBROTO RAY on Aug 02, 2012 05:59 PM

I was amazed to see the way this young guy Vishnu played. Paes had slighted this guy by being reluctant to play with him and here was the guy who came out in flying colors. It was small wonder that he was appreciated by both his opponents at the nets after the match. Their initial strategy was to target this guy as the weak link and they found to their surprise they were wrong and almost lost the match on the face of some stupendous serve and volleys this youngster produced. Had Paes been a little steadier instead of throwing his emotions around and avoiding the dramatics that he is known to display the match would have been ours. Full marks Vishnu to you and with all the best wishes for the brightest future.

if this is what they can do in a month.....
by diego tarantino on Aug 02, 2012 05:32 PM

Saw the entire Paes-Vishnu vs. Tsonga match. Some really incredible play by the Indians, but some silly errors too. On the whole, quite a creditable performance by the Indian duo... Just before this match, saw the israelis eliminate the great Federer and wawrinka... this match came really close to that. if this is the quality they can rustle up in just a month or less of practicing together, I am sure these two guys (Paes and Vishnu) would have performed much much better if they could put in years of practicing together (like how all the other countries do to prepare for the Olympics..) Only we are foolish enough to practice Politics for 4 years, and then play the blame game during the Olympics.

Leander may be a 'dead character' but you are a 'loose character' who does not know anything of anything! Leander Paes has won 13 Grand Slams, do you know what that means? What have you done in your life, apart from writing fractious comments in rediff?
