Stupid people commenting negatively..
by Rakesh Kumar on Jan 12, 2011 08:49 AM  | Hide replies

All you brainless people commenting negatively should know that the people who are praising the work of Indian team are professional football players.

Asst of Franz Beckenbauer, Everton striker, Blackburn Rovers player are the ones who are applauding the efforts of Indians.

So who are you to demean the Indian team?? Overweight lazy couch potatos who do nothing except move around with an invisible dunce hat and prancing in the rediff chat boards wearing frilly pink skirt displaying your negative attitude.

I agree the Indian team is not the best..but its getting better.. be proud.

Stop lecturing, you GENIUS...Ofcourse, Indian football team is improving BUT 4-0 scoreline does not make you hold your head high and does not make it a tough match by any standard.

You are an idiot and you don't know how the westerners talk.

yeah.. as if you know much how the westerners talk. and when did the Australians become westerners to us?? flunked the geogrpahy classes in school??

I never said that my head is held high. I said stop bashing the team and its performance. Go check the website of Sydney Morning Herald. You will see that the australians expected to beat us with a double-digit scoreline. But we restricted them with our good defence.

Neither did I say it was a tough match. But it was tough for them to score a goal in the second half where they could score only one goal.

If a 4-0 scoreline meant the end of the world then the Argentinians should have committed suicide after losing 4-0 to Germany

hahahaha...looks like ur too much pissed off.. wish you would come up with some sane arguments as to why our football deserved to be bashed when, instead, they earned the respect of their highly ranked opposition

4-0, you still need sane arguments? Losing 0-4 does not get you any respect.

Let's get it straight, it's a pathetic performance. Forget about scoring, India did not even make a threatening attack or hit the ball at the target even once.

And people like you don't just get it.

I bet you didnt even watch the match. And the scoreline is not pathetic considering that India's rankings is rock bottom. Had the rankings been similar I would have agreed with you.

Get your head up above the scoreline and see how the players played. You should have seen the defences.

But then I guess your childish attitude will stop you from thinking like a mature football enthusiast. And yes, i like that fact that you are dancing in frilly pink skirts on rediff chatboards. LMAO.

//end of me trying to make you understand something simple and basic.//

@another, check the rank of australia and find the difference b/w India and aussies. U know ,aussies have the record of scoring maximum goals in a match(32)...Moreover they planned to score max. goals agianst india.but our goalkeeper and defence saved us...so this is not a bad result

Really? Failing to score at least once and conceding 4 goals in a football game is a bad result despite the difference in rankings.

Some kicks your ass and then kisses your ass and you think it's real.

Well Done India
by Prashanth DSouza on Jan 12, 2011 08:38 AM

After 27 years, to enter a tournament on merit, is a very commendable feat, ahead of countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia which are football mad countries. Make no mistake that there is a lot of hard work to be done and in a consistent manner, but that should not deter us from feeling proud of this achievement.

Here's wishing the team all success in the tournament. We will closely follow your exploits.

Have noticed that the quality of football in urban india atleast has improved over the last few years, probably as players now have access to the best soccer matches on TV. It was impossible to watch all this 15-20 years back. Someone had to get VCR recordings on a tape and watch it and even that was a big deal.

India's consistently improving performance in asian sports over the last few years is a very good sign.

Apparently, Australian coach and Australian players watch cricket

4-0 scoreline do not reflect their feelings. Probably they watch and are fans of Indian cricket team or IPL.

Some perspective on athletics.... Since USA is here in discussion
by NashikMarathi on Jan 12, 2011 12:51 AM

For those familiar with American football - Willie Gault was on the 4X100 m relay gold medal team in a world championship. Nobody will say he is a better wide receiver than Jerry Rice or Michael Irvin or even a Marvin Harrison. All three were a good step slower than Gault but just better receivers. However they were all great athletes.

Similarly the US 4X100 winning team in Sydney Olympics had a time of 37.61 while Brazil won silver with 37.90 .... whatever.

Anyone who compares Brasilian athleticism with Indian is not worth arguing with....

Germany defeated Australia 4-0 in the world cup in SA , does that make Australia lousy? No.
India's 4-0 result is crediatable considering India;s FIFA ranking!!

To all these critics, first lose that flab in your waist. Then start running a kilometer at least every 3rd day, and then we will start talking about sports, but before that DO NOT UTTER a word about football/soccer!!

Oh I disagree - Argentinian friends of mine would readily agree that a 4-0 defeat at hands of Germany means that Argentinian team is lousy.

4-0 is lousy despite the presence or absence of fat in anybody's(including yours) abdomen, waist or anywhere else.

Yes. India played well. Sunil Chetri almost scored a goal.

India with its huge population can definitely can make the world cup a huge success. Kolkata, Kerala, Goa, and Punjab fans are sufficient to make the event rich.

Look like India is planning to bid for 2026 world cup.
