Corruption
by Govind Lal on Sep 29, 2010 07:51 PM

India, after independence gained tremendous progress in project management. Check the huge projects undertaken by our professionals. Remember this is land of Viswessarayya, Bhaba, etc. The present generation get inspired, in thousands, from these GEMS. But, at the moment, they do not get patronage from the political power. Politicians of the day think that shouting in front of huge audience is a way to inspire the citizens. Remember their ‘shouts’ do have the latent foul smell of corruption. Such smell will retract the people from right thinking. The shouts from a clean mind will inspire the people. How many leaders have this quality? Every leader has a personal interest. Let them work without any personal interest. Work with attachment to the country. Work for the progress of nation. Do not work with attachment to alien world. Do not work for the progress of other countries. Do not work for the flow of FDI. Avoid proliferation of SEZ. Rewrite NELP. Do not bring in the philosophy of live on loans. Do not move an inch to operationalize the N-deal.

I read the ongoing discussions in the forum and being an indian i am really saddefiened at the current affair of the things. But this much of negative comments about our country is just not justified... foreigners are taking cue of our comments and reactions and slamming india for its failure. please let the game pass and shun the speculation for a time being. we may have plenty of time to react afterwards.

When you see people urinating and defacating in the public, think about how DEVELOPED India is. A few cars and building don't make a nation. Most of the people in this country are still uneducated, poor, and under nourished. The middle class is only 30% of the 1.2 billion people in the country.

This was the response from UPA when the N-deal was drbated.'Let us pass the bill and see what would happens.'It is an open secret that India is sold to foreign monopolies. India is trying to poke into the dangerous Uranium trading. Uranium is a scarec material. Canada and Australia holds 50% of deposits. The remaining is scattered around the world. France is playing havoc in Africa. The fundamentalists threaten France to vacate the country. France is at the receiving end there. Once the n-projects envisaged in the N-deal are commissioned India will have to beg before the countries who owns Uranium deposits. MNCs world over is is running frantically to acquire Uranium mines where ever present. Before signing the N-deal by India Uranium price was $8/- a pound. Now it is around $50/-. No one can predict the price level when the demand is more than the production (simple economics). Here is a metaphor. Stray dogs go round the butcher shop for the left over pieces of meat thrown by the butcher. When thrown there will be FIGHT BETWEEN DOGS to get the pieces. Similarly countries with N-plants will sit watching Owners of Uranium mines declare the sale of metal. There will be horrible fight between countries for the metal. It is predictable -who will win the fight.

Politics & Government agencies
by Ravi on Sep 24, 2010 10:37 AM  | Hide replies

The organization was a receipe for disaster. corrupt Politicians, read Kalmadi and company, and inefficient and eqyually corrupt civic agencies-DDA, PWD,collaborated to paint a dismal picture. Apart from looting the tax payers money, all these people sat on the projects for years ( seven years)and now the last minute scramble to finish work is on. Private companies would have done the work much better, at half the cost and would also have delivered much before the deadline. Look at the New airport terminal in Delhi. a huge project , completed in 18 months.

There is need to re-examine our culture, which has normalised corruption in its many different forms. We in India need to acknowledge the need for introspection on our acceptance of the abuse of power. The “Seven Nolan Principles of Public Life” — selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership by example — should form the standards for holding public office. There should be regular and independent reviews of individual and organisational functioning. The challenge is to inspire and change individuals and to transcend and transform societal norms.google and read “Power, privilege, corruption, hypocrisy K. S. JACOB”

kalmadi should be thrown in the sea
by ravi kumar on Sep 23, 2010 07:51 PM

this is one step that will lead india to be corruption free in an instant. Actually there is an innovative idea from my side. Just hire a mechanical giant catapult. And from pragati maidan in delhi just throw (catapult) him to arabian sea. Then the same catapult be used for pawar, raza, lalu and others... this could be best way to make india corruption free by next year...

Surprisingly on September 15, Mike Hooper had not just expressed satisfaction but had praised the state of the Games village.

On September 21, Mike Hooper has termed the Athletes Village as "filthy and uninhabitable".

If I were to be in the helm of affairs, I would not accept the position of being in the helm of affairs if I am not capable to complete the preparedness of even like COMMONWEALTH GAMES, at least one year in advance of deadline.

Guys we are citizens of this country....Lets not make it Congress Vs other parties agenda... that what those filthy politicians do. Its the OC that should be fired for this and held responsible .... Suresh Kalmadi must be punished in a way that sets example for others not to play Gaddar with the country's pride.

OC is headed by congress MP Suresh kalmadi who must have contributed huge amounts to congress party fund and personal funds- a small percentage of what he has looted. That is the reason why Government has not taken any action against him. After the games are over, everyone will conveniently forget about this loot. Has any Politicians being charged and convicted till date in our country.
