Typical Indian congress working
by Gandhi on Oct 18, 2010 04:21 AM  | Hide replies

Now a comitte would be formed, or if they want to make it look even bigger they would form a commission to investigate the irregularities that went in the prepration of CWG. By very good chance the person heading the commission would be Suresh Kalmadi or any one whom the party want to please and find a high profile job. The enquiry could go on for long time from 3 moths to 2 years and at the end of the allocated time it would seek an extension. There could be no doubt what such set ups are going to find and what not find.
Mera Bharat Mahan. Jai Hind.

Role of media in isolating Kalmadi has become calculated to keep the Congress & govt. out of the blame. Kalmadi was a henchman of Sonia Gandhi, but when media complained about incomplete projects, low quality fittings at exhorbitant prices, Sonia Gandhi panicked and wanted to wash her hands off him, in the same way she got rid of Natwar Singh when Congress President was blamed in Oil For Money deals in Iraq during Saddam's rule. Media discovered later that Kalmadi's budgetary responsibility was only Rs1700 crores in contrast to total misexpendutures of Rs70000 crores for the the Central & state Government ministers, bureaucrats of Congress, including the Lt Governor. Hence started the media compaign personally against Kalmadi to save the Congress party. Much of the criticism of the media against Kalmadi proved wrong by the very high quality of opening & closing ceremonies and almost perfect running of the games, including excellent performances by the players-who, by and large, were happy. If Kalmadi was that corrupt or inefficient nobody could have achieved such good results within a few days of the games!!
The fact remains that all in the Congress and Government are running for cover for the corruption accusations and delay in infrastructure, poor quality, and the muck that continued to show around by the overzealous media. Kalmadi became the planned target of the government to save their own skin. Only neutral enquiry will expose t

The difference is, we have Manmohan Singh as the PM who is in charge at the moment, considering his older term.

Kalmadi's speech
by Irfanafzal on Oct 17, 2010 11:50 AM

I disagree with your columnist that Aussies should have been praised - their arrogance already knows no bounds. The reasons why their athletes do well is because of the enormous funding that they receive at the expense of other funding - for example the 16 Gold medals that Australia won in the 2000 Olympics cost Aussie taxpayers a total of $800 million. God only knows how much each medal won by the Aussies at the Delhi CWG cost the taxpayer. All this extravagant spending is of course at a significant price - ask the average Aussie what the Australian public hospitals are like and ask any aboriginal living in the Oz outback about the lack of clean drinking water. But of course why does the average Aussie worry about all this when they are winning so many medals at all these events ? This country sure has its priorirties right. Don't think that this sort of sporting success translates into a healthy Australian community - levels of sport participation in Australia are on the decline and Aussies are now acknowledged as the fattest nation on earth ( even fatter than Americans and that really is something difficult to achieve ) - if all this is a bit hard to believe , read The Crawford report which provides all the detail

Many 'Patriotic Indians' are sad
by Act First on Oct 16, 2010 04:04 PM  | Hide replies

Many 'so called patriotic Indians' who settled in the 'Christian West' (and also their followers here) are sad because
1. India demonstrated its capabilty in CWG
2. People of Delhi demonstrated their hospitality
3. Indian team produced stunning results in all reas
4. Not even a single security issue happened. Even Interpol and west were amazed
5. ANd west also appreciated it.

This just shows their anti national attitude.
If this was done by China or US , they stand on knees with praise.

Commonwealth games, 2010
by Sanjoy Dasgupta on Oct 16, 2010 03:50 PM  | Hide replies

Why it was necessary for the IOA to shoulder the responsibility of organising the Games? If If Olympic, 2016 can be handled by the London Mayor why in our country the Chief Minister of Delhi could not take the full responsibility. Delhi CM is nothing but Super mayor of Delhi. She was having entire administrative set up beheind her. S.Dasgupta

She failed. PM had to intervene to get things done. And it was done becoz of various hotel owners who, in national interest, did all housekeeping things free of cost.
