CWG Closing Ceremony
by Yashpal Kalra on Oct 15, 2010 11:45 AM

Spectacular indeed! But the national broadcaster could not match the proficiency and excellence of private broadcasters. The stearotype and stale style of focus and intercutting cannot be appreciated. Sound recording was such that most of the spoken words were not clear. However, the areal views were good. Given the much hyped negative media publicity things were not expected as these have ended up. It is a matter of pride for every Indian. However, the accountability factor must not be forgotten. All those on whose integrity fingers have been raised must be appriately taken to task. -Yashpal Kalra

They cannot digest that CWG games went well.

But are no fishing for trouble with Aussie Team and blaming them for a Washing Machine falling.

As a minimum, during the speeches and songs, there should have been direct input from the mics to the TV. Instead, we were made to listen to the 'echos' from the stadium.

Possible reasons why Advani was 'not seen' -
a. He was not there
b. He has found some trick of becoming invisible
c. He underwent plastic surgery to look like Sania Mirza so that people didnt identify him and jointed the Indian contingent.

That means he has already died and appeared as ghost. That is why he was visible only sometimes.

TV Telecast - Why no direct input of sound to the TV systems?
by B M on Oct 15, 2010 11:17 AM

Listening to the songs was no fun because there was no direct input from the mics to the TV systems. What we were hearing was from the speakers in the stadium. Why did DD not realise this?

After effects of a wonderful XIX CWG 2010
by Sunil Sharma on Oct 15, 2010 11:09 AM  | Hide replies

Having lived in Delhi and seeing the Delhi both, before and after CWG,following wud be the After-Effects of a changed Delhi;

1. The beggers missing at signals will be back.
2. The flower pots lined up at all strategic points will disappear.
3. The blue lane markings will fade away to the ever growing traffic jams on newly laid Delhi roads.
4. The huge billboards of CWG camouflaging the areas which could not be renoated in time, will be removed to show the true Delhi.
5. Traffic cops, who worked all day long standing by the road side in scorching heat, will go on extended leave.
6. The immaculate roads of Delhi will become 'lawaris' and convert into obstacle course for the drivers of Delhi.
7. While Sonia, MMS, Shiela Dixit and of course Rahul was bask in the success of CWG taking credit for it, Kalmadi will go scot free, now that the games was a success - Corruption charges dropped (read never charged), as the files go missing.

I hope all above does not remain like a bad hang-over but the administration works hard, taking a leaf out CWG, and maintain Delhi the way it is now.
Kalmadi must be tried and punished.
Let the profits be distributed to the masses!!

You mean the games become wonderful due to Kalmadi's corruption?
Kalmadi was incharge for 1600 crores earmarked for organizing the games.Rest all was spent by DDA and Sports ministry for sports infrastructure and delhi infrastructure..
He is the man who took the responsibility, definitely sports persons present/past(like me) appreciate relentless effort of Kalmadi in creating a sporting atmosphere in the country which symbolises the emergence of our youth power...
Beijing olympics cost USD 50 billions,we beggar are cribbing about USD 6 billion, that too mainly spent on Delhi and sports infrastructure..loot may be there but Kalmadi is a small player in it..his responsibility was 1600 crores, that too the spending responsibility was with both him and Lalit Bhanot...

@ Om Shanti
The problem in India and with us is that those on top posts (ministers, IAS officers and heads) are pardoned and the lesser influencial mortals are made the scape goats.
Kalmadi, being the head of CWG organizing committee has to take the responsibility for corruption.
If this corruption wasnt there, Delhi and the venues would have been far better than what it is now.
The bridge too far for 'em would have been intact and Army wouldnt have been called at SOS.
All I am saying is punish Kalmadi and all those responsible for the mess before the games...or else, this is just the beginning (as Kalmadi said in his speech)...of ever lasting corruption!!

you see, making bridge or venue was not under his responsibility, these are done by EMAAR,DDA,Sports ministry, etc,so many bureaucratic red tapism is in the country..I donot say Kalmadi is corruption free..but we need a person like Kalmadi who is genuinely intersted in sports..it is not from today, since long back..because of his interest last national games was grand success in guwahati, this time he is busy in CWG and organizer is laying eggs on the national event by postponing it again and again..

I am sure, many a ehads will raise now, those of potential sports talent and managing staff, who have keen interest in sports.
Kalmadi is not the end of Managing Sports in India.
Give him the credit for what he deserves but pin him for what he should have not done.
See the records of his close associates who were awarded contracts.

I do not wish to dwell into this now and create a bad taste. Let us enjoy the success with a hope that Delhi will remain the same the way it is now and all those who were involved in corruption,MUST be charged and punished.
There has to be a first time, when an example has to be set.

Yes 1600 Cr......... DO you know how many zeroes this have!!!..... Dont compare china with India..... if you compare u r a fool...... We could have compared China with India in 1960's and the comparision ended in the war where china beat india resoundingly and we lost huge teritories....(which is still shown in India's map)...... Well 1600 Cr can feed 10 lac children daily for 2 years!!!..... first eradict poverty , then think about otherthings...... Ok to show case India - this was a good idea....but these Di*K heads spoiled it - bringing out lethargy, corruption & shamelessness to the fore....not pride.

Beijing olympics cost 50 Billion.... India CWG cost....6 Billions and you are saying beggars!!!..... You are a sportperson.... mind you its the tax payers money.... so every effort that you take - you dont salute and go to bed with the babu's ...you pay ur respects to the normal citizens of the country..... If any corruption was found in beijing olmpics.... the person behind it would not be sitting lavishly in a 5 star hotel...but his relatives would be burying his dead body..... For me a person handed a responsibility is equally responsible for the people below him..... If this keeps on happening.... the normal people will start doing things illegally and feel that they have the right to do it.... Either you kill this at the top or the whole country suffers!!!!

The CP which was sore for the eyes before CWG is a place to be seen now. A total make-over. Delhi is unbelievabley beautiful now.
If the administration could do it at the 11th hour, dispite all negativites - corruption, mismanagement, last-moment-ho-jayaega attitude and heavy rains till the day before opening ceremony, I am sure they can maintain Delhi the way it is, with minimal efforts needed now.
Let us be ready for Olympics, if it happens to come to India.

Yes, all that is needed is Willingness, Sincerity,Concern and dedication.
The surfaced at the last moment for CWG, it should remain for each day to change the face of the country, just as Delhi has changed.
India has the resources, manpower, intelligence and financial capability. It was evident now and if channeled in right manner in right direction, India is a place to reckon with in future.

We have shown it to the world with the stupendous success of CWG!!!
