BHARATIYA INDIAN
Commonwealth Games
by BHARATIYA INDIAN on Oct 14, 2010 04:42 PM

Our athletes and players of other games have made the country proud with their outstanding performances.
However, this should not make us forget the acts of ommission and commission that the politicians and bureaucrats committed while preparing for the games. The guilty must be brought to book.
It shows that our players won so many medals despite such officials and imagine what would have happened if our organisers and officials of various federations were true to their duty. India would certainly have been on top.

3. FITNESS

There are 3 components to Fitness: Strength thru weight-training, flexibility thru stretching through Yoga and Stamina.

Fitness: Strength, flexibilty(Yoga for preventing muscle pulling) and Stamina

4. Sports Nutrition

Water consumption (Hydration and Mineral losses) and
Diet(High nutrition Protien and Vitamins and Minerals) Any sports activity without a good diet can be un-effective. Diet is the foremost component of
any sports program.

5. Mental conditioning and Mind and body cohesion

This is the area of sports physcology. The mental preparation required for competitive sports gives you the competitive edge.

The knowleghe integration of these 5 multi-disciplinary categories can be a huge advantage.
The first issue is to make sure you have the right body for the right sport.

Yeh right! And just because he didn't win any medal doesn't mean tat he should be given a bed that caves-in when he sits on it. Pankaj is talking like Bhanot's spokesperson.

How can India prepare for the 2016 Olympics Part III
by Nikhil Shah on Oct 14, 2010 04:35 PM

In addition of the basic skill for any sports, success in sports largely depends on application in 5 main areas which need to integrated to gain a competitive advantage.

1. Bio-Mechanics,

This is study of techniques and body movements, which gets locked at a very young age. This is important because as you get older it is difficult to get rid of
bad habits.

So once you have established your technique it will remain locked for ever, the technical flaws then are hard to get rid of. It is usually too late.

2. Body-types:

Are genetically inherited from birth and runs in families. Every population distribution will have this. 80% of the population no matter which country
will an average build. 10% is tall and lanky and 10% are short and stocky

How can India prepare for the 2016 Olympics Part II
by Nikhil Shah on Oct 14, 2010 04:29 PM

In order for India to prepare for the 2016 Olympics
games and not for the 2012 games since it is already
too late, you need about 7-8 years of planning and
advanced preparation. Instead of awarding individual
athletes with prize money the money needs to be spend
in large programs with 100s of sport-people try.
Selection trails need to held for selection of 8-9
year olds for gymnastics, swimming and all other
sports. The first process is the understanding of
sports scientifically and to apply this know-how from
multiple disciplines. India's biggest weakness are
stamina based events : Swimming, cycling and Athletics. We need to get a scienctific understanding of stamina. In addition, equipment, facilities, diet and fitness change be a huge advantage and the
Indian economy improves with better understanding we
can be a world class sporting nation which we can be on our way.
