If India is 2nd here, who barely manages any medal in Olympics, one can imagine the sporting standard of erstwhile British colonies, and as to how Britain must have rules these places. These games should be called as common slaves games since evry country was a British slave earlier. India should not feel so miserable by participating in so called Commonwealth and still be subjetced to the bad memories of british Raj. Be an independent country and have grace to live like that. Still they l_ck Price charles and Queen and who not of British Empire. Its a shame.

Thoughts noted. I think the british- since they have been kicked out from everywhere, still somehow want to show the world that they were rulers- albeit in the past- by having these games. And isn't playing of these games by the ruled countries an acknowledgement of the erstwhile British rule and accepting that u r still living in the past? and the so-called queen usually starts off the ceremonies. While having sport competitions is a good thing, having them under this banner is what I find stupid. However, this question is open to debate.
Archery: the story that just will not go away. This is Fita secretary general Tom Dielen: "While we are glad to have an enthusiastic crowd in the archery stands, we need to strongly remind the fans that they must respect all the athletes on the field." Here's England's Amy Oliver, whose six cost her team gold: "I was nervous, the crowd was not good. They were pretty loud and it was not good sportsmanship for archery."
From Greg San: "Re: Archery; I'm all for seeing good crowds, and completely understand the excitement of supporting your own home team, but there is a difference between support and deliberately trying to upset the opposition. We rightly condemned the USA when they did something similar in a previous Ryder Cup, and I think we should also deplore this latest example of poor sportsmanship - the Indian archery (and shooting) teams are world class; they don't need this."
Not very good advertisement for Indian spectators.
The Ugandan team athletes/ officials are injured from yesterday onwards and they have lodged a strong protest...MS Gillji has offered a verbal apology. the Ugandan sports minister who is also the head of the delegation also says that no official rep even had come to receive him at the airport. Mani Shankar Aiyar should be given back the post of Sports Minister. This MS Gill is turning out to be another Kalmadi. Meanwhile are we supposed to tune into DD Sports, DD National, DD Urdu, DD Sahayadri and such disgusting advertising comes in between. I wonder about the officials who might be staying in the Village.. there is a Hindi and English commentary going on like in the olden times.. All SAIL and ONGC and Income Tax advertisements.. Moreover, there was an interview of Lalit Bhanot also.. They come in drab looking clothes.. Can't they wear business suits for imp.. occassions like this.. The fanatical country next doors.. their leaders.. Gilani, Zardari, Musharraff always comes in dapper suits. though they also have traditional clothing like ours...Couldn't they bought in professionals like Ravi Shastri, the commentators from IPL etc.. to spice up proceedings.. Now I wonder if they have translations for all the states of these programmes ????? Congrats to the athletes though !! Who is going to sponsor our wrestlers ?????
