I want to know why is the Media and others who matter are not gung ho about Vishwanath's Anands victory...which is a great feat by all standards.
Why even TOI did not have him on the headlines....some days back Sania was given adequate mileage in almost all the media/newspapers/tv etc for her infamous nikaah to a pakistani....
Why is the media only interested in Terrorists and Minority personalites, if I may say?

Gittanjali I do agreed with your point when you say why there no gung ho about vishwanatha anand's victory in indian midia as should have been. unfortunatly, you BJP support can't live without connecting or bringing in Hindu Muslim issue in every topic.

abbas why bring bjp congress in this i merely did comparison of coverage of two sports personas

why are you going on defensive? minority appaesement and special status is taking the country to the dogs...one should stand by their beliefs.
Political Leaders are talking about that the great Sachin Tendulkar should get Bharat Ratna. Well Anand deserves it before him. If any Cricketer deserves Bharat Ratna that is kapil Dev who under his captancy brough us the First Cricket World Cup.
Re: Deserves the Ratna as much as Sachin
by sourabh verma on May 12, 2010 04:41 PM
No doubt Anand is a great great player.. one of the best sportspersons from India ever.. but Sachin deserves it more because he has "influence" over Indian public by playing a game which is so much followed by public.. hence his contribution is more emphatic.

what following and influence over Indian public did MS Subbalakshmi have for being conferred Bharat Ratna? you are bringing useless arguments

by Raj on May 12, 2010 04:52 PM
BS. Get a grip, Sourabh.
Cricket is a lame game. Sachin, while a good player, and deserving full respect, plays a game that is indulged by 12 countries incl. Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other 'advanced' nations. No Russia, no US, majority of Europe missing, No SOuth America - only the Indian subcontinent primarily.
Chess is popular worldwide and Anand deserves it more. He is the true Bharat Ratna.

oh really, we have no idea about the chess and these informations... how come u be so intelligent? why dont u challende kasprov, karpov or even anand?
Re: Re: Re: BUT
by mira on May 12, 2010 04:38 PM
your hatred is the truth. who said anand is the the greatest chess player? we are celebrating his victory.
This is like seeing the birth of the baby boy and while the entire family is celebrating, saying that the nose of the baby looks like the neighbour
Re: BUT
by gittanjali on May 12, 2010 04:37 PM
problem with India is that Indians do not appreciate each other....then why is he four times world champion
Re: Re: BUT
by prajyoth pradeep on May 12, 2010 04:54 PM
Absolutely correct. With People like this representing most of us..who only criticise, we as a nation will go nowhere. And who said Anand is not the Greatest chess Player Ever. He is the greatest and has won all match formats..that only proves. And this guy is comparing Bobby Fischer with Anand. Comparing with Kasparov is Ok but Anand is well above him as he is still playing also Kasparov did not have much competition.
Re: Re: BUT
by sourabh verma on May 12, 2010 04:46 PM
Plus we don't really know how good Anand would have been in comparison to Fisher or Karpov as he did not play them in their prime. Yes, he lost to Kasparov once in the world championship challenge, but the things might be different now. Anand is very talented player and let's appreciate his victory instead of comparing him with the greats of other era.
Re: Re: BUT
by special reporter on May 12, 2010 04:39 PM
today world chess standards have fallen. Remember what happened when he had a face off with kasporov...he was beaten convincingly..here he just scraped through..he is better of the lot but not greatest.
Re: Re: Re: BUT
by madan menon on May 12, 2010 04:48 PM
you mean to say whenever Anand wins the standards fall. if people like fisher, kasporov, karpov, judith polgar and a host of foreign players wins then the standards are quite high.. now we understand your problem..

See here no comparision should be bought in as Kasporov or Karpov are great during their time and Vishy was so young to compete with them. Now Vishy is at his peak of game. So give him credit and dont compare with any other player. Tomorrow, after Vishy is retired and somebody becomes a world champion, your comment will be same but you will substitue kasprovo/karpov with Vishy. So dont waste your time, but do appreciate our Vishy's achievement. Enjoy madi.

Thanks for your valuable comments Mr. Reporter. Now, please tell us who, according to you, is the greatest among Karpov, Kasparov and the ones you mentioned? Needless to ask your qualification to judge these great players of the game. The posts from you in this forum are clearly showing your exceptional qualification.

who said he is the greatest. why are you imagining that there is a river and then saying that we dont have boat to cross it

If Kasparov was so Great why has'nt he played all form of the Chess. Vishy is best is all form of games. No Doubt that Kasparov was Great Vishy feat is no less.
Anand is truely the King of India. He has shown that anything is possible to achieve if you are disciplined, dedicated, have determination. I am surprised that Anand don't get good Sponsors ( apart from NIIT), it's a shame for our countrymen.

Because he doesnt want to such up to pepsi and cola's and then claim that all the intelligence and energy he has got is from pepsi and cola...

Re: congrats

why would they? would it get them any vote or publicity if they did that? if you compliment arr, you will get islaamese votes. That doesnt work here because anand is a hindoo and more so bec he is a braahmin

A brahmin becoming world champion. Mr Karunanithi has demanded reservation in chess for backward caste ppl First 20 moves will be made by them then opponent can make move
Anand has mad us proud. But because concentration on cricketers we often fail to hail the real heroes of Indian sports..... Hail Vishwanatahan Anand.. You are our real hero. We should also support our Pugilists and Shooters who are making us feel proud. JAI HO...
