If a student fails in english should he stop reading maths and science.
Dumb solution.
Hockey can be improved only by playing hockey and not by banning cricket

Nagarajji,It is not maths and science. It is opium.Your correct version should be if a student fails in english he should stop taking opium as cricket is opium for the masses.

I PITY Indian hockey players.. Poor souls
by supernova on Mar 07, 2010 07:10 AM  | Hide replies

Look at the Indian Hockey team? Most of them look malnutritents, starved and weak. They all come from poor families. Look at other teams-- tough, well built guys.. It is only Indian and Paki teams that have such poorly built players.. REASON- No money available to the players to imrpove on themselves.. ALL MONEY GOES TO CRICKET..Money is spent to make indian cricketers and officials rick.. Nothing more... Some sponsors did come in the last minute for the Hockey team..but it wastoo late when money comes in late and not much can be done.. Anyways boys.. U did good by beating pakistan.. It is ok...

Not entirely right. Most of the money goes to thieves (among officials and politicians) in every sport in India.

And the leading lights in this regard are Pawar, Kalmadi, Modi, Dalmiya, Gill, etc.

Indian Hockey Officials have to answer
by Sanjeev Rattan on Mar 07, 2010 07:02 AM  | Hide replies

National sport of India is suffering because of officials.

Hockey India officials have always been playing politics internally, with players and the game for their own vested interests, control and virtual ego. They have to me made accountable for their acts now.

There is no transparency in administration. Just before beginning of world cup, players were struggling hard on the issues of non-payment of sponsorship money, match fees and bonuses, sparking a revolt in the camp in Pune.

This is not the way we can win world cup. Leadership and administration needs to be set right first. That home has to be in order first.

Players need to be supported in playing and not forced to go on strike for their own money. Result is in front of us all.

India really played well.

It is not a joke to compete with strong, fast and well built players of countries such as Australia or England.

The difference is not much between the participating teams and we can hope that with support from all quarters,Indian team will improve further in the future...

Pay them 10 lacs each and ask them to go on strike. 10 members and officials of the Hockey Federation including Kalmadi must be sent to Switzerland by First Class and put up in the best hotel there to study how Ice Hockey is played and how this can be incorporated here in our game. The players must be sent back to their villages and be called back for a training camp 10 days before the next big tournament. Only then will Indian Hockey improve

Poor Hockey
by Adi Potukuchi on Mar 07, 2010 05:15 AM  | Hide replies

If you open a sports page in India, you will see Cricket for sure. Not much about other sports, we blame govt or sports minister. But how many people are willing to contribute to the hockey?? New rules need tough palyers. Players need good nutrious food. Player has to be made, right from young age. We need to encourage. We need more games like PHL(premier Hockey League). India has lost to Japan, Korea and China, forget about strong European players. We need Discipline and commitment. We have to pick physically strong and big guys for the tournaments.

Indian Hockey - we love and support it !
by swarna swarna on Mar 07, 2010 01:38 AM  | Hide replies

Hi Guys,
India played realy well... I guess they are under too much pressure! We still need to encourage the game more in India, need lot of sponsors and even the public needs to understand that it is our National game. We also need to have frequent matches and series...just like we have in cricket. The more they practice the better they will get at it.
If we could help in anyway, please let us know...we NRIs can also contribute financially.

hi swarana

i agree with you that the players played well under sterss. Even they would have loved to win the matches. It should be kept in mind that our players are under different type of stress and still they play .If these stress could be removed i am sure they are capable to perform decently .Stress which they are under :
1. Monetary Stress
2. Red-Tapism
3. Un-professional Federation
4. Lack of world class training
5. Poor Infrastructure
6. Lack of Test matches
