Hockey Lost....................

Players instead of fighting for more perks please concentrate on the game. You all no where comparing with the Australian and England players.

They lost but need the support
by PUNEESH on Mar 07, 2010 12:01 PM  | Hide replies

I watched this match in the stadium...and i must say that the team's defence was really found wanting. The ball possession was not there at all except for the last 10 min or so....I think they tried hard but came up short.. But still, i thing i really liked was the crowd that turned up and cheered. Also, yesterday's crowd was the most vocal i have seen in any match in this world cup.....this suggests that there are many hockey fans in this country, it;s just that our team needs to justify their faith by good performances, which was missing in this all important cup...

Our Hockey players are good for nothing and they already showed it in this world cup. Being played in our home grounds, they defeated thrice in trot. This is shameless and these shameless were on strike for more payments month ago. I think it would be fine if our Hockey federation had boycott them at that time. Even today sahara were thinking why they gave them crore of rupees. Our national Cricket team is much better as atleast win next game if loose an important encounter. Shoot these hockey players........... Shameless!!!!!!!!11

This team lost 3 matches to teams ranked above them . They also defeated Pakistan which is ranked above them . How can this be a shamelessly poor performance ? FYI though our cricket team is ranked 1 in tests and 2 in ODIs there is no guarantee that we'll win our next match . That is the way it is in professional sports and no amount of jingoistic nationalism can change that . Your reference to their strike was laughable . Did you know that these players who are representing our country used to get about 1.5 lakhs a year before the strike . How do you expect them to motivate themselves with this pittance . For too long they played only for national pride but pride can only take you that far in an ungrateful nation . They are also humans and they need to feed their families besides keeping themselves fit for international hockey . If our players are not fit enough , is it surprising ?

i am completly agree with Sunil, as hocket management is not giving their player anything, they are not getting money to get them fit and run there families, not getting respect to keep there motivationlevel up, and not getting right direction and facilities. if hocley players get all these things surly we can get our position and respect again

Let's get back to cricket guys !
by Pradip Rabindranath on Mar 07, 2010 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

Hockey has been given it's chance and it's time in the Sun. Infact we have been playing Hockey at the International level than cricket.

We have given Hockey as the National game status too. And if those bunch of arrogant jokers cant even qualify for the Olymics we should simply discard them. We should stop treating them as a spoilt or victimised child. Let them come up the hard way, even amongst the top ten Hockey playing teams of the world, we will start supporting them.

Otherwise let us not waste time and money on these guys and let us get back to cricket guys!

Pradip, you're a moron.

Cricket is a lousy sport played by 10 countries - including backward nations like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Kenya and whoever else.

Cricket has no intensity - which is why it isn't a tenth as popular as football, hockey, rugby, boxing, tennis, etc.

We Indians are lazy, hence our favourite sport - cricket - is a lazy sport too. All we Indians like to do is sit on our fat behind for 8 hours, waste time, gossip and watch cricket. It's an excuse to not do any hard work.

Hard work. Read that again. We Indians are accountants or IT guys - we're not known for physical work - which is why we choose cricket - a sport that can be played for 8 hours!! Obviously there is no physical intensity in cricket!

Cricket - no matter how much you push it or market it - will never become popular in rest of the world.
